Anyone paid for implant surgery in the UK?

Internet search is no relaible indicator of what is available in the UK or likely cost.

I have found NHS 'discouraging' to say the least. Even as far as getting information is concerned.

some clicincs who advertise seem more interested in telling you that they have a 5 star accomodation for your operation 'offshore'.

Hi mate, I initially went private and saw the consultant a 3-4 times obviously paying his fee, maybe £45 per appointment. Once we agreed I need an implant he kindly transferred me over to the NHS as like most consultants he works for the NHS as well as privatly. Few more appointments with him on the NHS and then I got my implant done on the NHS, no cost at all.

Thanks, but looks like you are a fair bit younger than me, I am 60 this year and the general view between my endocrinologist and the NHS ED clinic is that guys my age would have to pay, even though I am diabetic on insulin. Prostate seems in good nick.

One they want to encourage me to work with pumps and caverject anyway, two the ED guy just says....high risk of infection and you would have to pay!

I think they need me to fail at the injections before I get a referral to Urology again, I probably also need to site severe depression or something as well to get support.

Actually the injections may work, and maybe I can improve my pump technique with a sleeve. I just want a realistic view of the implant route for paying patients in the UK.
