cycling for beginners

Postby LM-N-TX » Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:09 am

I am about to get my training for cycling but I have been experimenting a little on my own. I can feel everything and know what to do but this thing is like holding a gold fish. Too tight you can hurt it, hold it too loose it can slip out. I have watched all the videos and I know about the warm bath so you don't have to tell me about that but what did you successful?

Did you stand up or lay down?
One hand or two?

What did you find that worked best? I know you guys are really the experts

I implanted the prosthesis eight weeks ago, and honestly I can't use it at all. The prosthesis works, the doctor showed it to me, but for pumping and afterwards also for deflating, the pain in the scrotum was enormous, and in fact I still can't use it for this reason, I would like to understand how many people this has happened to, and after how long it was resolved

LM-N-TX,

I have the AMS 700 LGX with the AMS momentary pump, this method might not work for the folks that have the Coloplast implant pumps.

I was at 6 weeks when I started cycling and it did hurt at the beginning of cycling to pump, but it got better quickly after the 6th week. I had the penoscrotal surgery method, so it took longer for me to heal.

My doc told me to cycle once a day, standing up in the shower for 10 minutes at full inflation, I would usually keep it inflated with a towel around me, after the showering and shave and then deflate, for a total of around 20 minutes. We are empty nesters, so I could do this without having to worry about kids walking in the bathroom and wondering why the towel was poking out at the front. lol

I use two hands, my left hand to hold the pump in place and my right hand to pump the pump bulb.

I use my right hand to initially to pull my pump toward the front of my scrotum, if it has moved, by cupping the bottom of the pump bulb and pulling it forward.

Then I use my left hand index finger and thumb at the top of the AMS pump wide block on either side of the tubes that come out of the pump, to hold it in place at the bottom of my scrotum.

I take my right hand index finger curled up and the lower half of my thumb to pump the bulb, this allows the use of forearm muscles rather than just finger muscles. This is the best method for me.

I have tried to use the two thumbs over each other to get extra pumps in but the pump is not stable and can slip out and hurt. But, if you are careful and take your time, this two thumb method can get you a few extra pumps in that you otherwise wouldn't be able to get with the regular methods when the bulb is hard to pump.

Good Luck,
and Happy Pumping
Let's get this party started!

Welcome to the brotherhood! Yep, there is a learning curve when you first start cycling, but you will quickly discover what works best for you. In the beginning I found lying down most comfortable, but after a couple of weeks, any position is fine. I cycled for at least an hour twice a day for the first year. I would max inflate and go about my business doing chores around the house with a raging boner. Kinda' fun! To inflate I firmly hold the pump at the base, where the tubing exits the block, and pump with my other hand. Just make sure you aren't pressing on the deflate button. Once in a while early on, the pump would shoot out of my fingers, the boys really don't appreciate it! Never happens anymore. You got this.

The best advice I can give as a new person cycling with a bit of time under my belt is make sure you take some acetaminophen and ibuprofen first (an hour beforehand). It greatly reduces the discomfort and makes you more easily able tolerate a longer cycle.

My doctor wants me to cycle for 1 hour a day consecutively. It helps to do it in hot water for sure.

Where I typically do it is in bed (six kids and all), I lubricate the penis with Cetaphil healing ointment skin protectant for dry checked and irritated skin free of lanolin preservatives and fragrances (I previously used curel dermatologist tested dry skin therapy hydrosoque moisturizer unscented uncolored.

Then I reach down I place two fingers behind the ball and my thumb at the front of the ball just under the block and I compress it until it's dimpled, release give it a second and repeat until I can't press it any longer. At this point I rub the lotion in thoroughly (I had a penis skin tear early on) And then about every 10 minutes I attempt to compress it again. A half compression a full compression whatever I can get. Between those periods of time I stroke the meat from the base to the head and then reverse the pull from the head to the base. Compressing and stretching. I then bend the penis as far as I can an every direction to the point of extreme discomfort.

Recently in about the last few minutes of the 60 I attempt to use a VED and run it up to 5 to 10 and tolerated as long as I can... While this process is not painful, it is very uncomfortable. However what I found is I get a greater degree of comfort once I deflate my penis if I take a couple minutes with the VED before I finish.

Ymmv And I am not a doctor, so listen to whatever your doctor told you first and foremost, but that is the process I currently go through daily.

my pump is quite high, now it doesn't bother me anymore, I divide the strokes a little with my right hand and a little with my left I take it with my index finger and thumb, I don't need to hold it or move it, the grip is optimal, maximum inflation a little more of 30 pumps

I must have tried a dozen different combinations of fingers and thumb.put ball in the first joint of my index pinger and the other side in the last joint of my thumb for one handed pumps almost to max, then I have to change the back side to the first or middle joint on thumb and index the same and reach around my whole hand with other and two handed pump a little more to get to absolute max. Just experiment with many different positions until you find what works for you. You will get it down to a fine art where you rarely ever let it slip and can usually get nearly to max with just one hand. For sex I only use as much as I can pump one handed… but with all the exercises I get with the one hand it has gotten quite strong! Keep practicing it will improve!

I've just been cycling for 9 days, I was given the go ahead at 4 weeks post op.

I try to do about 3 hours per day, 1.5hrs in the morning and 1.5hrs at night. In the morning I usually wake up and pump up while still in bed, and don't deflate until after I'm out of the shower and putting on my pants. At night, I'll pump up and watch a couple of shows with my wife before deflating and going to sleep. For most of the time I'm lying down or reclined in bed while I inflate.

I don't know if I have stronger grip than most or what's going on, but I only rarely get to the point that I can't squeeze the bulb. Maybe only twice in the past 9 days. I read of some guys that have to move to 2 thumbs to keep pumping, I've never gotten to the point that I can't put in more pumps with just one hand. I start with 30 pumps, do the bending exercises and put in another 10. Wait a few minutes, do the exercises again and put in another 10 pumps. It does get more difficult, but never to the point that I feel like it's an unpumpable marble, nor would I describe my cylinders as "rock hard". My penis is plenty hard for intercourse, and my wife has no complaints, but I read of guys that have to back off to 80% and I don't have that experience.

I do have to be mindful that my big left thumb that is stabilizing the pump isn't inadvertently depressing the deflate button (even a little bit), I try to hold the pump by the corner of the block and not above the deflate button where the tubes enter the valve mechanism. Then I pump with my right thumb and my first two fingers behind the bulb. The bulb seems to be pumping fluid and refilling quickly between pumps.

When it is time to deflate, pushing the deflate button and feeling the vibration of the fluid returning the reservoir is nice. I squeeze my penis in try to push it down into my crus to get as much fluid out as possible. I haven't had any issues with auto-inflation.

I have an AMS CX with the MS pump.

I have started cycling since about a week. Started after about 3 weeks post surgery. It still pains a hell lot and I can't do for more than 15-20 mins. I find that having an ibuprofen about 1 hour before cycling in shower helps with the pain. So I eat an ibuprofen, wait an hour and then jump into hot shower. This way the pain is minimized in my case.

I do cycling in shower so it is all while standing. Though I find that lying down after inflation also helps ease the pain. I use both hands to inflate. I inflate using right hands by placing the pump between end of my thumb and the palm. The left hand goes below offering support. The deflation is with the thumb and index finger. It causes a lot of pinching pain.

I am waiting for the pain to ease up and slowly work my way up to 30 mins to an hour or cycling each time.

My doctor advised me to do cycling for 6 months and then stop.
