Traveling for Surgery with Dr. Clavell... When to Fly Home?

Postby RoninRiff » Tue Apr 18, 2023 5:45 pm

To all the brothers who have had surgery with Dr. Clavell... How many days after surgery did he recommend that you wait before traveling home by air? I seem to be remembering some of his patients flying home on the 3rd postoperative day, if I'm not mistaken. I am trying to confirm with his office but I am not getting a timely response from his assistant. And how did you feel on the trip home? Did you feel ok with that timing?

Yes, I flew Houston GWB Airport to Tokyo on the 3rd day after surgery. Had zero pain, which I assume was from the pain killers that I got. He recommended that I fly early on, since the medication would still be in my system.
Venous Leakage (which I believe caused by my overuse of the Bathmate VED)

I was out of surgery about 1pm on Wednesday, and was on a plane home at 9am Friday. I had very little pain throughout my recovery, Tylenol and Advil handled all of it. The flight home was comfortable, I paid to board first so I could get the exit row to stretch out a bit (I'm 6' 5" though, maybe not necessary for everybody).

He wants you to fly while the pelvic nerve block is still working, barring any issues, I'd try to fly sooner rather than later.

Day 3 postop for me. IAH to Miami (3 hour flight) + 2 hour Uber home.

There was no serious pain but an uncomfortable feeling of being “fragile” walking through such a big airport so soon after surgery. I walked kind of slow and steady, keeping my distance from others as much as possible. A very light rollaboard. 20 pounds max.

I explained to the gate agent as i stood in my gym pants, oversized hoodie, and jockstrap-supported upright chub that “i’d recently had surgery” and asked if it would be ok to board in an early group. She readily agreed and let me board with the elderly and wheelchair customers. That was nice.

Aisle seat was good, just in case i needed to get up (didn’t need). I did feel some soreness, but not in my dick. The airline seat was hard and i think the downward pressure was felt sort of in my perinium area.

Overall, not painful, just somewhat uncomfortable. The two guys above report no issues at all. It was worth it.

I will be following this topic as well. I fly into Houston in a few weeks and get the surgery. Then fly back to the Philippines 2 days later. 20 hour flight. I might be his new record. lol

Good luck to you and thanks for posting this topic.
