Which Dr did you use and why? Did you travel?

Thanks everyone for their input. I spoke with Dr Carrion once again but this time over the phone. He acknowledged he was a very aggressive sizer and would his best for everyone to make sure they are happy. I'm not doing this for size but to get a sex life back when I find someone. I'd just rather not lose alot of what I have but the benefit could be I could get bigger that is a plus. Anyways thanks everyone

Ive had surgery with both Eid and Hakky, and enjoyed results from both.

If I flipped a 4-sided coin that had Eid, Hakky, Clavell, and Perito as the 4 random options, then I'd be happy with whatever it landed on.

This isn't to discount other surgeons, there are other great options out there. But the point is, I did the due diligence to come up with 3-4 options and then choose according based on the unique aspects of my situation, insurance coverage, and discussions with patients from each.

Regarding travel, I highly recommend keeping proximity and travel inconvenience as one of the lowest decision criteria within reason. IMO IPP surgery is a job that is for a world-class surgeon, and the cost of a mistake can be extremely taxing for a patient. I personally would rather deal with the inconvenience of travel in order to minimize the inconvenience of a bad outcome. I know not everyone has all the options I do, and fortunately I live in the states near some of the best options in the world.

Jage64 posted on page one his experience with Dr. Clavell. Aside from his not using injections (I did) and the complication he had (I didn't) that was successfully addressed by the doctor, his report is almost exactly mine. I could have cut and pasted it, but Jage would hold me accountable for plagiarism.

I did consult with Dr. Perito in person as well. I live in South Florida and he was the obvious choice, except my insurance didn't cover it and he charges just over $30,000 out of pocket. I was about to pull the trigger and go with him when, like Jage, I began to binge watch Dr. Clavell's youtube videos. I was impressed by his videos and his overwhelmingly good online reviews. After consulting with him, and given that he was $10,000 less than Perito, I chose Clavell.

As another poster wrote, travel, especially domestically, should be the least of your concerns. This brings me to a point i want to emphasize about Dr. Clavell:

His pain management is excellent! I read something online recently that the #1 reason men with ED will not consider the implant is the understandable fear of pain. I was terrified of what I imagined it would be like. But after reading the exhaustive account of forum member "Tangerine" on his journey, I agreed with something he wrote about essentially the suffering of ED had to be worse than any post-surgical pain IF it resulted in a vibrant sex life again. So I went for it.

You will read consistently that Dr. Clavell's pain regimen results in very little pain for the patient postop. Jage mentioned he only used Tylenol. I used one pain pill on night #4 after i rolled over onto my stomach while sleeping and squished my chub. Beyond that, all i needed was Tylenol for a few days. He uses a nerve block that members have consistently reported allows them to travel home, by airplane, comfortably. I personally met another forum member in Thailand recently who was implanted by Dr. C. He travelled from Houston to Tokyo 3 days after his surgery and reports being quite comfortable the entire time.

I'm not sure what the other doctors do, but if this is a concern of yours, I'd certainly bring it up with your doctor to see what you can expect.

I used Dr. Jonathan Beilan in Clearwater, FL. He’s one of the superstar young Urologic Surgeons, IMO. Currently performing over 200 implants each year. Has trained with some of the top implant surgeons in the country and has recently been appointed to the Collaborative Faculty of the University of South Florida Department of Urology. I would rate him as a 10 out of 10.

Dr. Hakky. He was close to where I live and he was the best, high volume, well spoken for, DICK DOCTOR in the south.

Dr. Brant, he's been involved in some implant studies. A few years ago he was on a FT list of best surgeons. Best I can tell his early years was in "academia" what ever that means. He is in several Boston Scientific YouTube videos. Next surgeon that I was looking at was about 800 miles away. So being very local was a big plus. Decent personality & his nurse is a rock star. She does all of the scheduling, insurance applications, post op exams. Due to an unexpected bacteria in my urine culture. She handled getting me on antibiotics, made sure I waited 5 days for the antibiotics to clear. Then she performed a miracle. Got my followup culture done in just under 48 hours so that I could meet my scheduled surgery date. Removed my catheter & checked the locations of my tips without any hesitation the next day.
Dr. Brant also works at the local VA hospital with a different nurse. He does claim around 250 implants per year but the term "implant" also covers AUS implants. Operates in his private practice that I saw him through 1 day a week twice a month. Not sure but I think the alternating week is his surgery day for the VA. On my surgery day, he did 2 IPP's. His next private practice day he had 4 IPP's scheculed.
He tries to avoid rte's but uses them if needed.
Best part is it cost me ZERO $$. I did pay for the urine antibiotics, 20 pain pills & 2 office visits of under $20 each.
I've had several former patients of his that are local to me private message me. Not a single bad word was said.
As said many times befoe. Vet your surgeon very well. Btw, his staff should be looked at also because they are a team. Be carefull following the herd because there are high quality IPP surgeons that don't get their names up in lights. I browsed for a surgeon in a radius of about 500 miles. In sparsely populated areas the choices can be slim.
I live in the intermountain west. Best of luck for those searching for a surgeon. Its not as easy as it may seem.

I saw him and dr Nicole Szell. She actually did my prostate cancer biopsy and confirmed it. She's smoking hot and was so embarrassed the first time she examined me because I was getting a chubby she was so hot, lol. I didn't like her pa at all, she has the biggest attitude. Heard Jonathan is good for implants as well.

I chose Dr. Goldfarb in MD. He was recommended by a urologist I trust a lot. Like you, I've had previous abdominal surgeries and I have a substantial amount of abdominal mesh. Dr. Goldfarb does a lot of coloplast implants and also does reconstruction surgeries. He reviewed the MRI scans of my abdomen and felt he could find a space for the reservoir. When I woke up from surgery last week, the Dr. said he encountered some issues with the mesh but was able to successfully find a good location. I was so glad to have the three piece unit implanted. A lot of guys make much ado about the doctors name. I just needed to find a skilled and experienced surgeon that was honest with me and would take my concerns seriously. If they just brushed off my abdominal mesh concerns, I never contacted them again. I didn't want aggressive sizing. I wanted a surgeon to fix what God gave me and not risk any problems due to oversizing. I've had enough surgeries and didn't want to push things. I also counted out those claiming I would be exactly the same size or larger. The research doesn't always support such claims. I didn't want to go to a dick factory. I'm really pleased with my results.

I wanted a franktalk liked high volume surgeon. Clavell was closest to me, he was young and seemed to take pride in his work. I also dont want my hard earned dollars going to NY or CA, going to a FL or TX doctor was important to me.

As a CA resident, thank you for not spending your money here just to be wasted and pissed away on all the wrong things. Hat tip to you sir. If my business was not permanently bolted to the ground I'd be long gone.
