Newly implanted

Postby smb_racing » Wed May 10, 2023 12:15 am

Hello all,
I recently received an implant (coloplast titan) and am well on my way to recovery. I am 5 days post procedure and I have some questions that aren't critical enough to bother my physician with, but would still like answers to.

A little background on me, as this is my first post here. I am 42 years old, and a fairly healthy type 1 diabetic (diagnosed in 1994) with no other health issues. I had been fighting ED for about 10 years when factors in my marriage caused me to seek help for my problem. I had developed peyronies with a significant curvature to the left that mostly self resolved. Due to embarrassment I had tried all the nonsense "remedies" until I visited my first urologist (who ended up transferring me to my current uro).

Before I started having problems I had 6.5" length and average girth, but have always had a significant downward curvature that I assumed was just way I was made. I tell you that detail to ask my first question. On discharge they told me that they want me to keep my unit pointing up towards my stomach. This is totally unnatural to me, and is quite uncomfortable given the surprising rigidity of my (partially) inflated implant. Is this a necessary requirement?

I am sure I will have other questions, this forum has already been a great source of information and your help is appreciated.

As far as I know and have read here on FT, YES, you want to keep your penis pointed upward for a few reasons.

1) you likely have a penoscrotal incision, you want to keep that clear and not allow bacteria to enter.

2) the other end of your cylinders in your crus are also developing scar tissue around the cylinder, if you keep the cylinders (your penis) pointed upwards, it can lead to a better ultimate erection angle. Sort of like putting a post in the ground and packing dirt around it, you want to make sure the post is leaning the right way as you tamp down the dirt.

3) back to your incision, it's better for that to be stretched out as it heals so it does not tighten up as it closes.

Of the whole IPP procedure, keeping my penis pointed upward was the most uncomfortable, but I kept thinking "I'm doing this for the angle". That being said, I don't consider my angle of erection anything special, it's probably 2:30 on it's best day, but I did what I was told.

At night I would put on a baby sock over the head and a wear a jock strap with a 3" waistband and pin him to my abdomen for the night. During the day I did my very best to keep him pointing up as much as I possibly could.

Good info Jage64, my incision is penoscrotal. Didn't think about the rear tips also healing, makes sense. I definitely need to reevaluate the kind of underwear I have, so far the pouch boxer briefs have been the most comfortable, but to keep everything flat I have to put an ace wrap around my lower torso, maybe I should find a jock strap?

Trust me, I understand the problems of keeping your penis pointed up. Yes, it can be painful enough that you need to take a short break from it. Use ibuprofen for the discomfort. I tired several methods. Alternating between them helps change the pain. Tight biking shorts with a couple of large wash cloths rolled up between my penis & the bike shorts. I tried an Ace bandage around my hips like a hip hugging belt. Actually not real uncomfortable but difficult to get it applied correctly. I did nap a few time laying on my stomach also.
Dr says that I have 10cm of proximal distance. That is a lot of leverage that I had to overcome.
Keep adapting till you find what works best for you & good luck.

This is what I bought, it worked very well. I just wore it a little bit lower on my hips and it comfortably pinned my penis to my abdomen

Agree with the posts above. Jage’s “fence post” analogy is spot-on. There’s things going on inside of you (the crus) that affect the outside of you, the part that shows.

The jockstrap was my go-to. I also bought a wide waistband pair like Jage mentioned in his link. I put a baby sock over my glans (cut off the elastic), then pulled up my penis and put on comfortable cotton boxer briefs. Over that i put on my 1-size-too-large jockstrap.

Your 6 days in. We all understand it’s kind of a long 6 weeks, so hang (no pun intended) in there.

I was never told to point my penis to any direction when healing. My first 5 weeks it was left wrapped and partly inflated, basically sticking straight out. After deflated I pointed my penis down my left leg in boxer briefs, covered in a kids sock to keep my glans protected. I also never got instructions about cycling.
I am happy with my Titan, it works well and my sensations are just as good as years ago. From my experience it appears not doing any cycling or positioning doesn't make a huge difference. I do admit my length is shorter than prime days but 13 years of fighting ED did most of that.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I went out on a quest.to find some comfortable skivvies but wound up empty handed. Best I came up with was 2 pairs of compression shorts, one on top the other, seems to be doing a good enough job of keeping things secured. My discharge paperwork said I can only needed to point up for 10 days, and tomorrow makes a week, so I'm sure I can make it another few days.

Hey everyone, tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my surgery and overall I'm doing ok. I am still having a lot of swelling that comes and goes in my scrotum, and a bit of pain right behind my gland and at the base of the shaft, which my surgical team says is normal and expected. My only question is, really? After almost 2 weeks still a significant amount of swelling? Anyone else have this issue?

I'm 3 weeks post op . Like the others here , I too went the baby sock , jock strap route. Just yesterday I decided to cut off the ass straps and ball pouch off of the jockstrap. It was causing too much discomfort in the scrotum. This remedy worked great .I have a wide band going around my hips pinning my penis to my stomach with zero pain .
