Why Did You Get Your Implant?

At age 46, climbing down a vertical fixed ladder in the dark at work, stepped off a rung earlier than I should have done and injured my groin, something and nothing, I was kickstarting my motorbike in a few days, no time off work.
Never got an erection again. No trouble whatsoever up until that point, in fact I was still getting sometimes embarrassing spontaneous ones, but afterwards, nothing.
Tried everything available including waiting, and waiting, and waiting. saw every Doctor I could and each trial of treatment, nothing, except sometimes unpleasant side effects, kept getting referred up the chain and being sent away to "try this and report back in six months", or once, "why do you still want to be having sex. don't you think it might be time to call it a day?"
Eventually found myself at the regional centre of excellence for urological surgery, to see the only surgeon doing these on the NHS in Northern England. was offered the implant as the treatment of last resort for what was described as "end-stage" ED.
56 years old now and 1 month post-op and fervently hoping that it works, and that my wife and I can resume a normal relationship after much, much too long, she has been extremely patient and supportive, but I must admit that it will be a facer when the time comes.

Hi gentlemen, I have a question for the group:

Why did you get your implant? I’d like to get a sense of the conditions, etc. that led you to implantation.

Also, when you got implanted, did you have ANY natural ability to get an erection still, or were you 100% impotent?

Thanks helping me and I’m sure lots of others gain more understanding of the reasons why guys get the implants.

for me it was the need to be ready, injections were fantastic in a long term relation but not as a free agent which i will soon be.

After running out if all other treatment options I decided that implant is the only way to solve my ED. I tried pills, injections and prp. Somehow the injections I took with my urologist in India never worked, but the one injection which Dr. Eid gave me to measure my size worked, but my shaft was wobbly at the base. Also, I did not see injection as a long term solution.

I want to expand on my last post ...Why it's " surreal " . New Years Eve night ( 2022/ 2023 ) I had an incredible night planned with the wife . I got a room at the Sheraton Suites. The hotel was situated in an entertainment area . We could walk everywhere cuz we were planning on drinking . We walked to the restaurant to have dinner ( great ) , then walked to a bar and had some more drinks ( and watch my Buckeyes lose to Georgia in National Championship game - not so good but wasn't gonna derail the night ) . Then after midnight we went back to the hotel for the fun part . She made some drinks as I admistered my tri-mix shot . Once the injection erection arrived we started. Things were going great until they weren't. My erection would come and go and we'd lose all momentum. She knew how important this was to me and demonstrated great patience. I finally gave up frustrated. It wasn't happening and I could tell she was tired . That's when the spiral started . ED had been such a shadow over my life for like 25 years ! Sex had to be scheduled, spontaneity was gone . Confidence that the pills, shots were gonna work was lost . That was January now its mid May and I'm 3 weeks post - op . The weight of ED has been lifted ! It had weighed me down too long . Controlled my happiness too long ! And now that's all GONE ! That's why it's " surreal "

you could not have stated it better, that's was my goal to get back my confidence and my worries and focus on enjoying the sex again

I got my implant "early" compared with many men here, and one year later, I am pleased I did it.

Why? I still had a good sex life, and I could still get erections both with and without viagra. My erections were fine for masturbation, but for sex I would tend to go soft. Even with viagra/cialis, my erections weren't reliable for sex. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. I had/have a wonderful FWB who would happily come from my fingers whether I was hard or soft (that's how she prefers to come), so the implant was more about me than her. I wanted to reliably get hard and stay hard. Now I do.

Also, the side effects from viagra/cialis were annoying. My nose would get very stuffy and I'd get headaches.

At first I started thinking of implants as a "last resort", but the more I learned, the more I questioned that. People here who had them seemed happy, even thrilled. Many said, I should have done it sooner. The medical recommendation changed from "last resort" to "reasonable option after pills" (more or less), and so I thought I'd rather fix it sooner and have the advantages younger. I'm about 60 and honestly, I'm wishing I knew about this at 50.

I had ptsd after the rp. doc said I may need Cialis after the rp. then he removed everything. cold shrunken penis.i was dangerous to myself and wanted to kill someone.

same as most men no errection for a couple years starting to be a inny instead of a outy like has been said (a button on a fur coat ) love mine just quit working a month or so ago complete revison scheduled july 10th 2023

But basically, my general answer would be: When your life starts to suffer. When it impacts your life in a negative way. When it gets to you. When there is no better option out there. When you feel that even if the surgery goes wrong, I haven't lost much. Because what I have now, I can be without.
