all but one link goes no where. Culley Carson Director of Urology Dept. UNC Chapel Hill appt in spring - ever heard of? How does one investigate? refered by my urologist? Do you know anything about implants?

i have contacted both AMS and Coloplast to see where he stands in the industry. I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I'll let you know about Dr. Carson when I hear from them.
Most of the docs on this list can be easily found with a google search.

I've heard Dr Carson speak twice, a very entertaining speaker and very knowledgeable. One day that he spoke was at night and he said he'd done half a dozen or so implants that day. He was at Duke before he moved to UNC

I was about to say... no one on the west coast must need an implant.
But there seem to be two in the Los Angles area... just a simple 500 miles from San Francisco

Guys,
These guys are the big names in the implant business.
Just as a point of perspective, there are many, many doctors who do fantastic work in the implant field. There are male sexual medicine experts who might not do the enormous numbers of these guys, but are more like boutique docs who do upscale, specialized work.
I know several of them in the New York City area who tend to roll their eyes at the big number guys.
If your doctor does not appear on the list of top docs, it does not mean that he is not good.

bottom line - get refferals, get references, do research and talk to other doctors. Also, interview more than one surgeon if at all possible.
Avoid the neighborhood urologist who might do only a couple dozen a year, if you can. All docs have their fans, all docs have their critics.

Does anyone else find it humorous that a Dr. Wang became a urologist/penis implant surgeon? Or it is just me?

Do you guys actually hear anything abut Dr. Harold Reed? He's well known in phalloplasty and gender reassignment forums, not in Peyronie and Implant. I actually supposed to have the excision and grafting procedure with him on Dec 14th. I freaked out real bad as the day came closer and ended up canceled it. His name is on that list. He stated that he has done more than 2000 implants, on his website, it looks like most of them are the solid bendable types. He's not specialized in implant but i know for sure he's a good surgeon in other areas. He's in business for 30 some years ... a 70 year old doc. he's quite active for his age. If any one can relate any experience to hiim please tell me. Thanks alot.

I don't know anything about his doctor Reed person, so I cannot coment on his competence. However, given the fact that he is a gender reassignment specialist, I'd make sure to use indelible marker to write "DO NOT REMOVE PENIS" in large letters on my lower addomen if I decided to use him as my implant surgeon. I'd hate to think of Little G being transplanted to someone formerly named Rosemary.

Hey you gotta laugh at some of this. It's all too absurd othewise.
