Cleared to start pumping

Postby micromitso » Mon Nov 04, 2013 9:03 pm

My doc is sorta old fashioned, I guess, because he wanted me to wait a full six weeks before inflating/deflating my AMS implant. I followed his orders (guess I'm old fashioned too), and today he did the first cycle. He'd left me partially inflated since the surgery, so it was a matter of a couple pumps, then deflate and then re-inflate.

He made sure I had the idea and sent me home to "practice." Now I'm sure this question has been asked and answered numerous times, but searching is very difficult, since pump and pain come up so often the search results go on for 53 pages!!!

Question: how long before squeezing the pump bulb thru my scrotum doesn't hurt. Oh, yeah, I know: no pain, no gain, but seriously even with some ibuprofen 30 minutes before, I could only give it half a dozen squeezes before I wimped out. After a bit I'd do a few more, and finally got to the point of "stretch" and left it that way for 30 minutes or so.

Finding and pressing the button is a bit less tender, but still no picnic. I assume with the AMS, once the button is pressed for a bit it is not necessary to hold it down.

Advice, and corrections much appreciated!!

I've been pumping for 11 days now. My scrotum hurt bad at first too but now it's fine.

For some reason the left half of my scrotum was tender for a few months post-op but the right side was not tender shortly after surgery. So when I pumped I would move the pump over to the right side which had almost no pain during pumping. Eventually the left side got less tender.

About holding the AMS button down, the AMS instructions say you only need to press it to start deflation but my Doc told me it works better if I hold the button and squeeze the penis during the entire deflation, which is about 4 seconds. I always do that since it is not much harder to do than momentarily pushing the button.
