Question on number of revisions

Postby bds1986 » Sun Nov 26, 2023 7:11 am

Hi All

Maybe a silly question but is there a limit on the number of revisions you can get? Do revisions cause damage to the penis which means over time they won't work as well?

Sorry if a silly question but I'm just turning 37 and looks like implant will be on the cards depending how next consultations go with urologists so I would expect a few revisions in my lifetime

After reading thousands of posts here i have no reason to believe there are any limits to the number of revisions you can get. Let’s keep fingers crossed and hope you get an average of 10 years+ with each one. At your age you’re looking at maybe 5 in your lifetime. It’s my understanding that the healing from revisions is more expeditious than the original implant, so in your lifetime you’ll only be out of the game for a relatively short time overall.

I also can’t help but imagine, and hope, that as with all things technical/mechanical implants will continue to improve as time passes. The Iphone 15 is certainly not the Iphone 1. Why not implants? If so, it stands to reason you might need even fewer revisions than the number mentioned above.

Best wishes brother.

Thank you brother, that makes alot of sense in that overtime the technology will get better and better

I've been in a very bad mental place for past 4-5 years understandably and reading through this forum is really helping me that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel :-)

I got implanted recently and im only 30.
A couple things that made me go ahead / have no doubts with the decision is....
1. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. For all I know i could only live to 40 or 50 or 60.
2. In my case my ED was so severe that my dick didn't work before surgery. Injections didnt even work. So I had nothing to lose by going through it.
3. Ive seen on this forum that some of the older guys barely have sex with their wives. You should enjoy your sex life while you are young and are banging more frequently!
4. Ive never been so depressed in my life. I avoided going out with friends and avoided women because I knew I couldnt perfrom, so what was the point in going out or dating. Mentally i feel better now. I feel like i can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. I start cycling next friday so well see how it goes!

Best of luck
Implanted Nov 1 2023. Penoscrotal. Ams 700 LGX. 100 CC reservoir.
Left side: 21 cm + 1 cm RTE = 22cm
Right side: 21 cm + 2cm RTE = 23cm

I second what John Doe said.

I’m also 37, and my opinion is that we’re currently in our prime. Would you rather have your penis being its best in your prime or when you’re over 70? Also, we’re never promised tomorrow so it’s better to just focus on your current state.

When people talk about “delaying an implant”, i would say that’s only a good idea if you can actually have satisfying sex. If you can’t, I see no reason to delay the implant regardless of age. I would absolutely rather have 30 years of good sex from 37-67, than from 47-77. This is assuming you could only have 3 revisions, but as mentioned here I don’t think there’s a limit, and nobody is the same so it depends on alot of factors. Try not to think too far ahead and just enjoy your current self and situation.

Hey there! So, I'm 33 and got this implant three weeks ago. Now, the whole "life expectancy" thing is on my mind, mainly because more revisions seem to up the infection chances. Let's get wild and say I live till 90! That means I'm looking at around 55 years with these implants. If we stick with the current tech and no magical improvements, I'm thinking maybe 4 to 6 surgeries in the best and worst-case scenarios. Malleable implants are my plan B if things go south.

These devices have been around for 50 years, and we've seen some cool mechanical and surgical improvements that boost lifespan and cut infection risks. Now, there's this new player in the game called "Rigicon." So far, the results look promising, and having a third player might shake things up. On paper, it seems better than AMS, with an extra layer and improved sizing – exciting stuff!

Here's my crystal ball prediction: In 25+ years, I'm guessing 1/5 of these new implants might not quite hit that 20-year mark. Let's throw this out there and see what happens!

You didn't say who your surgeon was but EID has an infection rate of revisions of .5% and my Dr. Dr. Hakky said it is a 2% chance of infection with his revisions. So if you are being quoted something different I would take a hard look at your surgeon.

It's pointless to discuss revisions in 5,10,15 years etc who knows what the infection rate will be then or if innovation by ai, biotech or other technologies makes implants no longer needed or vastly approved upon.

Well Im of a different mind, revisions are a given but other factors are not fixed and are variable. Some of these variables are service life of implant, infection rates, loss of length with each revision, cost etc.

One should not rely only on opinions found on franktalk, instead search web for medical research studies for infection rates for revisions, satisfaction rates, complications and summaries. Alot (not all) fellow members mean well when giving advice but most have not had a revision and offer opinions with no personal experience or science behind it.

Lastly when looking at stats look at the average and not the best case scenarios such as these low infection rates your hearing about because those could be outliers. Consider exhausting all other remedies first before committing to implant.GL.
