Recovery time before trip

Postby Colorblind » Tue Jan 09, 2024 1:07 am

Recently I started using injections and they are working quite well. However, I plan on travelling more in the future and would prefer the spontaneity of an implant. My doctor suggested he could perform the surgery on January 23rd. The problem is that I am going out of the country for one week on March 16. Would this be enough time or should i schedule the implant for when i return perhaps in April. All suggestions welcomed. Thank you.

Good question. Basically that would be at the three week point. Lets run a few "what if" senarios". I suspect that I could of done it. Is it a long flight with lots of baggage that you need to move? What is your drs follow up appointment schedule? I.e. if he wants to see you at 4 weeks can you make the appointment? If you suffer a setback, like a hematoma or heaven forbid a minor infection. You will be a long ways from medical care that is skilled in your particular condition. How well can you speak the local language?

I hate to say this. I'd normally say go for it. But you need to weigh some of the "what if" stuff. Since you say that injections are working. I suggest being safe & take a later surgery date. Kind of why rush attitude. Also, see if your dr can put you on a list in case someone cancels. Keep your surgery supplies ready just in case.

I agree with GT1956.

I think I'd put off the surgery until you'll be home for a while.
I definitely would NOT have wanted to travel at 3 weeks, or even at 6 weeks.

At seven weeks out, you should be okay to travel.

In my opinion that is too soon to take a trip. I agree with GT1956, think of all the "what ifs".

I could of travelled at 3 weeks but it would have been WAY nicer at 6. Especially if you wanted sex during your travels, 3 weeks too soon for sex.
