How to Clean the Incision Area (Penoscrotal)

My surgeon is not Eid. He is not using water-proof sutures. No bath is allowed for 6 weeks.

How did you clean your incision area? Did you directly apply soap? That's my only question. If I don't directly apply soap, I can't keep it as clean as possible. (If I do, I can't keep it as dry as possible)

Yes you will get wet in a shower. My discharge instructions were no direct water in the shower. I was also instructed to apply a thin film of Bacitracin ointment on the incision. I would put a bit on the incision before a shower to prevent germs from getting in. I used dial gold antibacterial soap and kept my back to the shower spray. Let water run down my body to rinse. After shower I would pat dry the incision. I used alcohol wipes to wipe down my groin area being careful to avoid the incision. This would dry thing pretty well. Then a thin film of ointment and a 4x4 gauze pad.

Your doctor may have instructions he/she wants followed so you might check with your doctors office.

Just do that. If he doesn’t give them, ask!

Bactine max wound wash after shower/soap and water. Dry with a towel and get some on a cottonball, dab dab and done.
