A matter of girth

I think we all agree we would like more girth from IPP, and we discuss which device gives girth. As I think about this, would not any inserted device give one girth over their non-implant state? After all, the insertion of a "tube" on each side of one's penis surely will give more girth to some extent, inflated or deflated. Perhaps the idea of greater girth is somewhat of a "selling point", although true, and certainly an attractive point to me. Just a thought. billy

Most of us, if not all, gain length and girth in the flaccid state. Yes, the cylinders do tend to make things bigger. However, in the erect state, your girth is a function of how much your cavernosa (aka erection chambers) and tunica albuginea can expand. In virtually all cases the implant does not expand to its full girth due to being limited by the body. Whether that is bigger than the pre-implant size depends a) on whether you were able to expand to your full natural girth pre-implant and b) on whether the pressure of the inflated implant can allow you to stretch some more as you work it. The answers to those questions are different for each guy.

Also be aware that the spongiosum is not affected by the implant (unless there is surgeon error). A normal guy gets engorgement and therefore some added girth from the spongiosum when he gets aroused and blood engorges the spongiosum. Some men with implants, especially if their ED is related to poor blood flow, get less or even almost no engorgement of the spongiosum.

Good explanation. In your comment of " limited by the body", in expansion, would this not be a reason why pre-surgery VED use could possibly help? And, this true expansion might not be known to surgeon until all is completed, you agree?

Some docs do recommend VED therapy for exactly this reason. There are studies that purport to show the benefits too. But, some docs with LOTS of experience don't seem to think it matters. They think they get the sizing right regardless. I'm not aware of any doc that thinks its detrimental as long as its not overdone. You can actually damage the penis with overly aggressive VED pumping.
