Revision/Replacement

Postby Pete5829 » Tue Apr 02, 2024 1:46 am

I was Implanted 10/18/2019 with the AMS 700 by Dr Daniel Rapaport, Vancouver BC Canada. It had developed a hinge like folding on both sides with protrusions down by the base I’m scheduled for a replacement mid June. My questions are:
1. What’s the recovery like compared to the first time?
2. Will I lose and length, girth, sensitivity?
3. What should I know or ask that I am not asking?

Thanks so much!

Is a replacement/revision implant surgery covered by Insurance as maybe the original implant.
73, ED 25+ yrs, 2 Prostate surgeries. can't ejaculate, but great Orgasms
Tried Viagra, TRIMIX, CaverJet Inj, then nothing worked. Contacted another Urologist, Dr Kansas, Austin TX. Implanted an AMS700LGX: 18cm x 12mm w/2cm rte, 3/26/24.
So far so good.

I haven’t gone through a revision yet, but from what I have read here the second time around is way easier, alot less pain, people report gaining length on the second, usually you get a longer implant. Girth would be similar with the same model.

Risks of infection go up somehow, not sure why.

I was just at my drs today that question came up because we are talking about having to do a revision on my implant and would it be covered by medicare. He says if he writes it up as a complication of the implant then it is covered by medicare.

Are you going back with the same one or are you going to try something different, I had my titan implanted in 2019 and it failed a couple of weeks ago, I am researching others

what is the reasoning for the bulge at the base? Does the surgeon think its oversized or did the corporal opening come apart pushing out the implant? I think in both situations, its possible they may use a smaller implant, unless they rebuild the corpora to provide support to the area that bulges. Are they going to change out all the parts or just the cylinders?

I would say the pain wasn't as bad, but the swelling, bruising and overall appearance immediately afterwards was worse (still improved quite a bit after a week).
Radical Prostatectomy in 2015; failed pills, straight to Coloplast Titan in 2019 by Dr. Valenzuela in NYC, Replaced with AMS 700 CX in 2022 by Dr. Darshan Patel in San Diego, CA. Wish I jumped to an implant even before prostate cancer!

I will go back to the same brand Rigicon and a larger longer and thicker size .. Dr. won't do an IPP on me and after hearing all the stories on failures and issues and with my bad luck best I stick with a mallabble implant
