May 29, 2024- Implant Day!!

Postby finleyg » Wed May 29, 2024 5:02 pm

Hello all!

August 29, 2017 I had my prostate removed for cancer. Unfortunately, afterwards I had no ability to get an erection. Occasionally, I could get a little firmness, but nothing capable of penetration. I’ve been married to my wife for 36 years and She is my life partner.
Even before the prostatectomy, I had some issues. Cialis did a very good job. However, it was a pretty heavy load emotionally. It’s difficult enough for a man to stay hard while transitioning around to different positions, but when you add fear of losing your erection, things get pretty difficult.
I am lucky, that my wife is a very kind and understanding person. I’m 59, 6’0 and 225 lbs, otherwise pretty healthy despite being overweight.
After five years with no luck, utilizing any of the normal non-invasive methods, I began to research the idea of getting an implant. I read everything I could find (Probably excessively).
This morning I went in for an LGX 700 install. I used Dr. Clay Mechlin in Columbia Missouri. He does around 150 to 200 procedures per year. A couple of our forum members have had their procedure done with him. He uses the infrapubic approach, and has trained in the Perito method.
As soon as I woke up, I was fairly uncomfortable pain level of five out of 10. I’ve had kidney stones, which I consider to be a nine out of 10. They gave me some meds and I felt better.
I’m now home and five hours out from my procedure. If I lie perfectly still, pain is minimal. Throughout this entire process, including the initial prostatectomy, I would guess I lost about half an inch in length. I measured this morning at 5.5 inches bone pressed with an VED. Obviously, I don’t wanna lose too much of the little fella. I’ll continue to post journal entries now and then, because they were so helpful to me while I was considering this procedure. Thanks to everybody on this forum for their posts and thoughts – they were very helpful.

Congrats!

I’m on Day 8 of recovery. I had a penoscrotal incision, so you are much less likely to have the swelling and bruising issues I have had, but still… take it easy for a few days! Mine is starting to improve, and even though I think I probably had a worse-case scenario in terms of swelling/bruising, I didn’t have much pain and so far no signs of infection. Point is, it takes time to heal, so remember that even if there are setbacks, it gets better as you move along.

Welcome to the bionic brotherhood! You are the first person I get to welcome, haha.

Good morning! Thanks for the encouragement! I’m now 24 hours post procedure. Pain down to minimal levels unless I move too suddenly. Urination is painful but not very. Head of my penis is exquisitely tender but only if you bump it. Walking around the house is slow but not very painful. I’m getting up and walking around every hour or so for 5-10 mins. Shaft hurts a little, like it does after marathon sex sessions used to when I was young. I’ve drained 75 ml from my jp drain total since procedure.

I’m discussing all these little pains etc. because that’s what I wanted to know about post procedure. I expected to have them but wasn’t sure to what level. Also, since I had prostatectomy, I was well aware of post surgery pain. I wanted those who are considering this to know what things can (different for a lot of folks) be like. So far, reality meets expectations. Update again tomorrow. Thanks all!

Congratulations and thanks for the post! I'm 28 days out from my implant surgery. Glad to know your pain and discomfort seem manageable.

Pain is definitely manageable, as of the second day – I’d say things are in the discomfort category, not pain.

Ok, checking back in at the two week mark. Drain is out- that process was not as bad as I worried. Penis looks good, though definitely a little shorter but I don’t care, because I feel sexual drive again. Just having a mild erection has me smiling. Been almost 7 years. It’s a great feeling. Can’t wait to have sex with my wife. Check back with the doc next Monday. Already starts to feel like a part of my body. Very cool.
