Revision Questions

Postby Jack1104 » Thu Jun 27, 2024 6:49 am

Having a revision by Dr. Eid in July. After 2 1/2 years of great success, my Coloplast Titan failed- slow leak thought to be from the tubing.

1. How does revision recovery compare to the original surgery recovery?

2. Is cycling to maximize size as much of an issue?

3. Does the same size go in or is there a larger size placed?

4. VED before or after?

Thanks!

Good morning Jack, I just had a revision this past Tuesday so almost 2 days. My original, a titan had failed as well, tubing erosion going to the left cylinder,. My surgeon replaced it with the AMS700 LGX, I had surgery at about 3 pm that afternoon and was back home about 830pm the same day. I took a pain pill at 1115 that same night and that is the only pain pill that I have taken, the only time I took Tylenol was last night and had 3 Tylenol PM's. The pain is no more for me than a slight discomfort, I walked around the house quite a bit yesterday and where the reservoir is gets a little tender but he also removed the original reservoir, which I was glad he could because if you read on revisions they are usually keeping them in place because of the damage they could do trying to remove. He had told me that the reservoir could attach itself to other organs by the way it was originally installed. My original surgeon placed it where I didn't have that issue and this surgeon took it out. There are papers on this and it is quite safe to leave them in place. This morning I have even less discomfort but will remove the bandages and take a look in a few more hrs. I did do a lot of icing yesterday and something I used was a cold water ice bath that they had given me after rotor cuff surgery along with a bag tat you put ice in. I just sat on the pad from the circulator allowing my scrotum to sit on the pad, worked great. I cannot answer yet any other questions for you only that it is a whole lot easier than the original install. Dr. Chang told me to not try to cycle for at least 2 wks, when I go back to his office. Good luck and hope that yours is just as smooth.

My revisions were a lot easier. Of course, my doctor (Perito) was a lot better than the first one......Good luck man!
