UK Implant doctors?

I see a lot of people talking about a few different implant surgeons who do not seem to be in the UK. If you've had an implant and from the UK where did you get it done and by who? Did you pay out of pocket or was it covered? Also what were the implant options?

Great that you’re cracking on with your options and not wasting years of your life with sub optimal treatment.
I had the op in Harrogate on NHS, I won’t mention the doctors name because he’s not high volume and I have a number of concerns about the quality of care I received
1. The Dr everyone speaks highly of is Dr Ralph in London. If I have to go again I will make sure it’s that guy who operates, even if I have to self fund the whole lot. For such an important invasive process, why risk anything less than the best.
2. If you go on NHS expect at least a year from start of process to getting your op. You will need to convince your consultant that the meds are really not working anymore, and they will probably try various combinations of pills/injections to make double sure there’s no other option, before beginning the process of referral. I also got a brand called Zephyr, which is a good bit cheaper than the Titan or AMS, it might save the NHS a couple of grand, I don’t yet know the consequences.
3. Or spend 10-15k and just crack on privately and get the best care with the best doctor
4. Best thing about implant - I now have a wonderful new partner. It was great to be able just have as much sex that we wanted, whenever we wanted as the relationship took off, instead of pissing around with injections/pills that don’t always work

I wouldn't be surprised if the wait time is even longer than a year with the backlog of stuff for the NHS

If you don't mind me asking, did you have any options at all in terms of which implant? Or did the Zephyr implant just suite you better? I'm not sure how this part works, who decides what we get? Of course if you're paying you can choose, but in terms of us, using the NHS, is there only Zephyr implant available? or does it depend on the patient? I'm really trying to learn about all this before opting for the implant. I know the implant inevitable but scary not knowing anything as I'm still on the injection stage.

In terms of convincing my doctor/urologist, that shouldn't be an issue. I've been with them for around 3 years and they know everything about me, they know medication don't work as I've tried all on max dosage pretty much. I've tried all injections before invicorp which I'm going to try soon (Just worried that it won't work and then it's implant time, scary facing facts). I spoke to my urologist last week which he prescribed me invicorp and told me if this doesn't work then I would need an implant, but for the one he wants me to have I need to lose weight as I need a 100cm waist. So if invicorp doesn't work for me, I've got a busy few months getting into shape for the implant.

I got my doctor to refer me to UCHL. That's where Dr Ralph practices. I did pay £300 to see him privately first, he told me it would be about £15000 for the implant or the wait time would be a year on NHS.
So I got on his NHS waiting list and it was about 10 months, and I got a choice I choose a Titan .
Great care , was on ward over night and released following afternoon after they make sure you are voiding your bladder properly.
Went back after 3 weeks to be shown how to pump.
Telephone appointments every 6 months. I still get them now 2.5 yrs later.
Very happy with the implant.

I got mine privately through Michael Fraser in Glasgow. Nice chap, but after care has been non existent. He undersized me and any future ops will be with Dr Ralph at at UCLH. Have seen him a couple of times now and have 6 monthly checkups with him. He’s quite a cold character but he knows what he’s doing and I trust him.

Your signature says you were 6" pre implant and also 6" currently... How do you figure he undersized you?

Mr D Summerton Leicester General Hospital on the NHS just 61/2 years ago. He then favoured AMS 700 CX. He implanted me with 15cm plus 4cm extensions. Still working perfectly and gives me and my wife much pleasure. The hospital care was excellent. My only criticism is that inflated it hangs at 4 o'clock and thus requires a hand for entry and is a bit too flexible at the base (Still very rigid). I wonder if this is because of the 4cm extensions rather than am AMS CX 18+1. Unless I need a revision I will never know and at 80 that is unlikely! See my posts for more details.
