Setting studies aside, I recall a podcast where a surgeon explained his preference for the sub-coronal approach when implanting malleables (the video link in this post is on malleables), even when no Peyronie's correction was required. His reasoning was that he wanted to avoid scrotal hematoma and swelling, which could increase the theoretical risk of infection at a certain temperature.

However, he also acknowledged a drawback: some patients report distal penile lymphedema persisting even two months post-surgery!
