Personally, I’m impressed by Tactra’s axial rigidity and bend cycle tests. Consealability is imperfect across the board. I know what I'm getting and won't complain about that after my surgery.
I just found out that Tactra has dual-layered silicone. Will dual-layered design become a weak point, say after 5, 10, or 15 years? I’ll remain curious to see how well it withstands the test of time.
At the end of the day, I’d decide after weighing in my surgeon's experience and feedback from their patients.
For the attached cross-sectional Tactra image:
Durometer Shore A 30 is the hardness of a pencil eraser.
Durometer Shore A 70 is the hardness of a tire tread.

Re: malleable cock of the day, photos and literature
Do you think it's possible, however, that over time the Tactra's increased rigidity could be more problematic for the soft tissues of the penis?
I'm not saying it would be, but the thought has crossed my mind

Born 6/15/74. I have substantial venous leak with fairly severe hour-glassing, but no hard plaques. My urologist is sexual health expert Dr. Laurence Levine who performed a Doppler Ultrasound and diagnosed me with VL in 2020. I also have mild BPH

Your concern is reasonable. Tactra has very little real-world clinical data to rely on and learn from. I believe that achieving close-to-natural rigidity is better for the tissues, and this is where Genesis might stand out. Regardless of the brand, 24/7 hardness of a malleable is unnatural to begin with.
I consulted Dr. Osama Shaeer (Cairo, Egypt) for his opinion on perceived differences in marketed rigidity. Over 20 years, he has implanted thousands of malleables in the Middle East. He acknowledged that no comparative technical study currently exists. He also hasn't received any specific complaints about the rigidity of Genesis.
I think Tactra's heavily marketed rigidity might be a suitable choice for those favoring anal penetration. This is where Genesis can be sub-optimal for some.
Re: malleable cock of the day, photos and literature
My understanding is that the hinge loses some of it's rigidity over time in the Genessis and inevitably droops down. I believe that the Spectra might have done the same and this is the issue that the Tactra was designed to overcome.
I would prefer the Tactra, but I have 5 weeks to recover and then I have to re-enter an elementary school, so I have to talk to the urologist and ask if he thinks I will be able to bend the Tactra to some safe position to conceal it.
I definitely want to find some kind of athletic supporter for assistance. I don't plan to just swing free until it develops good bend memory no matter which one I get

I have a Tactra and feel that the concern over concealibility is a nonissue. Yes, if you're fortunate to have an 8 &1/2" penis, then yes, perhaps. However, most men, of normal endowment, won't find this issue problematic. As others have suggested, positioning the glans downward close to either leg and wearing snug fitting underwear takes care of the problem. Personally, I would chose a MPP again and again as opposed to constantly worrying over when my IPP unit (pump, tubing, connectors, chambers) might fail. For some men, this is after only several months or, for some, numerous times. In my personal opinion, the very real worry, financial costs, pain, convalescence and inconvenience associated having an IPP revision completely negates any advantage that inflatables might have.

Word I’m a similar size , any idea why sometimes my penis looks small and other times it looks normal depending on how I’m positioned? Is it my fat pad?

That's a thoughtful theory on Genesis, Mark. Thanks for sharing that. A comparative and controlled long term study with all prominent brands would be a useful research project for patients.
The wobbling, swiveling, or drooping base of malleables after 5+ years (a common complaint) have two main theories behind it: one is the well-known pressure atrophy in the tissue + implant contact surfaces, a concept recognized by prosthetic surgeons even outside of urology, and the other is the wear and tear of silicone over time. Silicone undergoes microtears. I don't think these are brand specific problems. It's a combination of material wear and tear and biological phenomenon of hard implants exerting pressure on organic tissues.
The discontinued AMS Spectra has mechanical moving parts connected by strings, somewhat like a table lamp stem, allowing for impressive bending features. I think the shift toward Tactra was also aimed at simplifying the mechanical design and reducing manufacturing costs. I don't like the fact that Tactra in 2024 is still is an uncoated implant similar to those from the 70s and 80s.
That said, Tactra is still my implant of choice so far. Why would anyone say "NO" to the hardest implant right?
If I were to choose Tactra, it would mainly be for its impressive axial rigidity and bend cycle test results.
However, I may not choose Tactra for its lack of coating in 2024, dual-layered silicone and lack of real world data beyond 5 years. Yes, I'm willing to forgive them for the worst bend memory on a 2019 product.
On the other hand, my old school mind still leans toward the Genesis because it’s a tried and true product that’s been around for 20 years. I tend to prefer reliable, time-tested designs over the latest innovations that could potentially face recalls. Reading about implant recalls in medwatch is not fun. Boston Scientific is not immune to implant recalls outside of urology.
As for IPP, I’d definitely consider one if my insurance covers it. However, I’d only continue to be open to an IPP if my first mechanical breakdown happens after 10 years. A standard too high to count on, I know.
Please keep us updated on your discussion with your physician regarding Genesis vs. Tactra. I’d love to learn multiple perspectives.
In some of my phone conversations with malleable patients, they’ve mentioned that if the erect malleable penis points upward while sitting, the pressure of the tips on the glans can become uncomfortable, especially with underwear. This discomfort is also noticeable while driving. Standing and walking is not an issue with underwear, but sitting definitely sounded uncomfortable to me. Letting it free (yeah, underwear-free) while sitting/driving solved it for them. This lifestyle adjustment can be okay for some and not acceptable to some.

tobenormalagain,
That's a nice result! I personally wouldn't mind the banana curve; lots of guys cocks have a natural curve.
Would you happen to know: did you lose any noticeable length or girth with the malleable?
40. Implanted July 5, 2024, by Dr. Andrew Kramer, Urology Associates of Cape Cod. AMS LGX, 21cm cylinders + 2cm RTEs. Idiopathic erectile dysfunction following bacterial infection. Tried pulse waves, Cialis, even spinal injections. Nada.
