40 year old male.
I had a three piece penile prosthesis installed in the first week of October and infection got in.
White exudate (probably pus) won’t stop coming out.
Things got worse this afternoon.
They’re keeping me in ER tonight and keeping me on IV antibiotics so that (maybe) the infection goes down.
Tomorrow, we’re set up to perform a surgery of either getting a malleable or a three piece.
I have never read a word about malleable.
Which one should I go for now?
1. MALLEABLE
2. THREE PIECE
I’m thinking of going with a malleable as a placeholder and then, maybe get a three piece again later on.

You should listen to your docs advice dude. All the best. But I have heard in many of these cases docs do a salvage malleable and once infection clears up can go for whatever you want including an inflatable
55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant.

Agree with the above comment. 1st, listen to the doctor. To me, malleable is fine as a placeholder until -- but what do I know.

The reason infection is such a big deal with this surgery is that it almost always results in size loss. Many doctors do nothing other than removing the infected device and wash out. This results in the biggest size loss. Some doctors that are very good will place a malleable in after removing the infected device and doing the wash out. This results in less size loss than not placing anything. A very few really good doctors can do a salvage with an inflatable. This results in the least amount of size loss. As was posted your doctor knows more about this than we do, and you should listen to your doctor. The inflatable option is best as it results in the least size loss, and you do not have to have another surgery.
Best of luck with this.

Agree with all here, listen to your doctor.. get the infection cleared up first and get the place holder, the revision will be alot easier than the original.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Who was your doctor? And how long after the first surgery did you get the infection?
Usually doctors recommend putting a malleable because they have less chance of a recurring infection. I remember seeing a youtube video from Clavell saying that if he puts an inflatable immediately after the previous inflatable was infected, the chance of it being infected as well was like 50-50. And malleables have less chance of infection. Some people here seem to think that the malleable is good and they end up keeping it long term anyway.
Let us know how your progress goes.
