Time between consult to surgery?
Time between consult to surgery?
Those who have had surgeries with Dr Hakky, what was the time frame between the consult till surgery? With my history ( having a defective implant for almost a year now ) you can see I really want to get this revision done and done sooner rather than later. I know it depends on what is being done and scheduling - I'm just trying to figure out if it will be a couple of weeks or a couple of months between the two and whether or not self pay has any bearing on the time frame ( since they're paid upfront and not having to wait on insurance approval or insurances BS hoops )

Re: Time between consult to surgery?
For me with Hakky is consult Dec. 2nd, a virtual pre-op on Dec. 30th and the implant replacement on January 14th. 7th was an option but I have other appointments.
Note I had booked a consult on October 23rd but it got cancelled because I didn't fill out the right forms, despite never getting any info on their location. So make sure of that.
My insurance is covering this one, but I doubt that applies related to self pay because approval seemed easy despite me having a new health insurance plan that isn't even active until Jan 1st.

So about a month and half or less depending on paperwork etc... that sounds great. Thanks

I see you had an implant surgery just three years ago. Why do you already need a revision?
30 years old French with ED caused by priapism episodes at the age of 15. Implanted with 21cm + 3cm RTEs AMS 700 CX MS pump on 05/12/2024 by Dr Sébastien Beley. Pills had lost most of their potency, injections worked but were painful and inconvenient.

Hope84 if you're referring to me, I had my first in April 2023 and revision June 2023 the last revision went bad in Jan 2024 ( so maybe 6 months of use at best ). First was known bad after the first week - leak in left cylinder. Second one is unknown until it's removed but from what I can "feel" around in there the connector between the pump and reservoir separated, it could have broke or just not been connected properly and just came apart. Both could be actual defects in the implant or could have been surgeon error or hospital error. Hoping to get my third and hopefully longer lasting like 10 plus years or so on this one. With me going to Dr Hakky I have much better hopes on the outcome.

And, if you're referring to me I don't need anything. My uncle passed away earlier this year and I got a more fortunate inheritance than I expected. I consulted with Hakky because of his recommendations here and specifically that Aussie guy for Hakky's version of the tunica expansion procedure (TEP). My idea was I'll be having both procedures together but it was his reasoning it's a pretty big difference with recovery and infection risks, plus the expected results of the procedure are better if I wait 6 months after for TEP.
Reasons why are I lost girth with AMS 700 LGX and I want it back. And I can afford it, so I'm taking it. Though I am surprised my current Aetna plan that ends Dec. 31 covers the implant surgery, and so does my new Jan. 1st plan with UnitedHealthcare. $300 initial pay to Hakky, then about $300 more for what insurance won't cover. So not to bad for an implant surgery from him.
Both are Medicare Advantage plans I get because of disability, which I think is about the same as regular Medicare for seniors, so if you get that your insurance should take care of most things (correct me if I'm wrong), except flights to Atlanta and hotel fees!
