How bad is post-op recovery for implant? Can I still work?
My work is 90% at the desk with a computer but requires occasional lifting, etc. But if I let my manager know, they can just take over those lifting duties. Will I be limping around when walking around the office? That's fine but would just like to have my expectations set .
Re: How bad is post-op recovery for implant? Can I still work?
I had my surgery on a Thursday, flew home 6 hours on Friday, and was back at my desk working on Monday. There was no limping around, just wearing loose pants to hide my 60% erection strapped up to my stomach tucked under a wide jock strap waist band.
I also used a urine receptacle for the first few weeks, you probably wouldn't want to take one of those to work. Although I didn't use one, I've read of guys that appreciated one of those pillow donuts to sit on.

I took a week off, I don't think I really needed it but it helped as I could ice the swelling. Loose pants are your friend...

Mine was the penoscrotal approach, I couldnt really walk normally for like 2 weeks after the surgery due to pain and swelling.

The truth is that nobody can predict what your recovery timeline will actually be. Some guys heal remarkably quickly and without complications. Most guys recover more slowly. And, for some men, it can take even longer, especially if there are any complications. I couldn’t walk normally for about two weeks. It took six weeks before I could sit upright in my desk chair for any appreciable length of time. And I wasn’t able to return to full-time work for a couple months! Hopefully, your recovery will proceed more quickly. But it might not, and I think it’s good to know that a slower recovery is the reality for many guys.
Aggressive prostate cancer (genetically predisposed) at 52. Required immediate intervention. Robot Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RARP) in December 2021. Erectile function never returned. Penile implant (AMS-700) in March 2024. Bionic Boys Club FTW!
Re: How bad is post-op recovery for implant? Can I still work?
Correct, it’s different for everyone. I would give myself at least two weeks, be aware it could take longer, might be a little less. I think all the guys who have a textbook recovery kind of fool themselves. It’s because of what they did in the aftercare and that it is the same for everyone. It is not. Of course the surgeon is the most important starting point, then every BODY is different. Good luck to you.

I am normally a super quick healer, with a lot of grim determination when it comes to getting shit done and I can tell you that while I have been able to do desk work, I couldn’t do more than 3 to 4 hours a day because of the pain. I am now five weeks in and it’s not gotten any better, so personally I recommend you have a backup plan with work in case it doesn’t go your way.

Recovery time might be different for everyone, but in general it takes 6-8 weeks.
There could be some normal healing problems like swelling, some complications like hematomas, but in general after some weeks it's all getting better.
Initially I had a skin hematoma for few weeks (see pic and signature), it disappears and the result I had after some weeks was just great and I enjoy my sexual life to the fullest.
The only regret I have...
I should have done it much earlier!
So guys, don't wait too long, don't be anxious about recovery, get your implants ASAP and start enjoying sex again!
All the best

This is very helpful, Dan, danke! I’m 9 days post-op, and I’ve been dealing with very swollen testes, and bruising and purple all over my groin area. It is starting to get better, but it has been rough. I wasn’t as mentally prepared as I should’ve been because my doctor said I’d be fine after several days and some of the people who also posted on this thread said they had it done on Friday and on Monday were cycling and only popped two Tylenol and were good to go! However, they are rare exceptions and frankly, not very helpful. They should not present as though this is the norm because that is far from it. It is best to go in mentally prepared for a rough recovery, and then if it is better, that is good.
PS I noticed in your signature, you write that you have 5 RTEs…. i’m wondering why your surgeon didn’t go a size up? Regardless, I checked out your video link and your results are fantastic!
Verabschiedung!

Re: How bad is post-op recovery for implant? Can I still work?
I took two weeks off per my doctor's directions.
He left me 60% inflated during that time and told me to keep my dick pointed up towards my bellybutton to ensure proper healing. I wouldn't have wanted to go back to work in that state.
And even after two weeks and being deflated, going back to work was a challenge. The implant felt like a stick against the side of my leg. I walked bow-legged and struggled to sit comfortably. For the first week or so back, I came home exhausted every day.
So, based on my experience, you should plan on some time off, even for a desk job.
