There is a degree of subjective opinion among surgeons.

My doctor, who was part of the early roll out for the Tenacio last year and says he's implanted about 20, used an MS on me last Friday and didn't give me an option. He didn't do a lot of explaining but he didn't feel the Tenacio was as good as Boston Scientific says. He's a Center of Excellence guy for both Boston Scientific and Coloplast. After the failure the original poster reported, I didn't feel any grounds to question his judgment.

More generally, in the process of deciding on a surgeon, I talked to three. One of them only worked with Coloplast and wouldn't use the One Touch pump. The other two were Center of Excellence for both Boston Scientific and Coloplast--of those two, the guy I didn't choose said there was a cost element, but was willing to do the Tenacio.

I would've trusted any of the three to do the surgery, but if you're looking for that last little bit of certainty from these guys, you'll be disappointed.

After reviewing everything I've been through so far he was pretty adamant that we go with the Tenacio pump, even so far as to tell the Boston Scientific Rep on the phone that "no he's getting the Tenacio pump" I just hope that there won't be any issues with this one. Having two surgeries within 3 months and having both fail within 9 months then waiting over a year fighting insurance just to get this revision isn't fun. Thought I wanted the AMS LGX but Hakky told me in order to place the LGX they have to size it down 2 cm because the LGX expands by 2 cm - he doesn't want them to erode through later on - so if you're a 21 cm you'll get a 18 cm with 1 cm rear tips to bring you to 21 cm when inflated.

Considering the Tenacio is been tested only for 1.000 cycles, you have any idea why Hakky is so convinced about it?

Where is the citation that it has only been tested for 1000 cycles? Something my surgeon Dr Kansas laughed out loud at when I mentioned today.

We discussed about it here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25278
Apparently on the Boston Scientific website that information is now removed, but you can see the screenshot on the thread I linked. With this being said if the info wuold be debunked I'll be happy about it. Does your Doc have good opinion on the Tenacio? How are you doing with it?

Dr Hakky is a excellent surgeon and has way more knowledge on this then I do. He said he's fixed many implants where the MS pump has failed. He's very protective of his reputation as well ( most high implanters would be as should any Dr worth their salt ) and if he had a lot of concerns about the Tenacio I would think he'd go with the MS, just so he wouldn't have a failure on his record. I'm sure he wouldn't want to suddenly start getting a lot of failures on his record. But we will see how things shake out on the 18th of Feb since that's when my surgery is. I'll post a new thread sometime after saying what and how it was put in.
