Post-op Shower Tips

Postby returntocenter » Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:21 am

Well, guys I finally pulled the trigger. Titan Classic with Dr. Clavell. Recovery is thankfully going well so far!

I’m on day two of my recovery and will be taking a shower today. I was wondering what others have been told about their first showers. Is it ok to get the scrotal incision wet directly? To lather it with soap? Anything to look out for? I want to make sure I’m as careful as possible. Thank you!

Congratulations!

Do NOT get any incision wet until it is healed! No lathering - period!

He should have given you discharge instructions that include bathing info. Like - sponge baths for a few days - then showering WITHOUT getting the surgery site wet - and any direct water / lathering once healed. My doctor was a bit more insistant on not bathing until after week 6 - showering was fine after a week. I used surgical cleaner (saline solution) to keep the incision clean - and used bacitracin as well.

Give Clavell or his office a call or text to ask for directions.

Certainly would use anti bacterial soap, I took a shower after a couple of days but I was only using anti bacterial soap, infection is what you want to avoid. Good luck and enjoy your new pecker.

I wouldn't take a shower for 4 days afterward. And even then, be extremely careful not to get your incisions / remaining dressings too wet. Don't use anything harsh, like alcohol or harsh antibacterial soap. Find the most neutral, unscented body soap you can find and be very sparing.

My instructions from Clavell (surgery was on 1/29/25):

- it's important to keep the surgical site clean but not immersed in water
- No baths, pools, hot tubs until it's healed
- remove dressings 2 days after surgery, shower that day
- shower using unscented soap daily
- gently wash the surgical area, no rubbing
- dry carefully after shower

My dressings left behind a lot of adhesive causing my inner thighs to stick to my scrotum. Removed the adhesive carefully with cotton balls soaked in rubbing alcohol.

I just got my Implant 1/17/25. You should not let the shower hit your junk. Take a shower with your back facing the shower. Use an anti microbial soap for the incision (I forgot the name) the same if you take baths.
