15 days post op. Is my AMS CX deactivated for the time being?

Postby twelvepillarscup » Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:59 am

As I'm sure most of you guys did post-op, I was feeling the pump in my scrotum and even tried a little test pump to see how it feels. But it seems to be very physically hard. Is this because I'm deactivated? I have my 3 week post-op appointment next week. There he will deflate me and teach me to cycle. Will he "activate" me which will lead the pump to be softer and easier to pump?

No the pump will work right out of the box. Being new the pump is hard to pump at first but gets easier as it's broken in, this is where being in a tub of hot/warm water or even a hot tub will help loosen it up. If no access to those then a heating pad for a bit beforehand can help it soften up.

That's ok. On my first time getting one I thought it was "deactivated" and that the Dr had to do something to allow it to work, to "activate" it. But all that means is you come in and they show you how to use it. I think they use those terms to keep you from playing with it beforehand.

Yeah - they don't want you causing issues. Pumping for the first time can be painful. It was for me - especially after since I activated WAY too early. I was lucky in that I could figure out how to deflate it - if I'd been swollen - that would have sucked - a LOT.

If he's having you come in specifically to show you how to pump - more than likely you are not inflated. The pump is VERY hard to activate - when I did mine I really had to squeeze hard --- its gotten a LOT softer over time.

I'm 50% inflated with the AMS 700 CX! What should I expect with pumping for the first time? Is it just painful while cycling or does the soreness linger after deflating too? Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

As you start cycling, it will be pretty painful. Pump up till you feel a good stretch and moderate pain, and as you heal and your tunica stretches out, the pain will get less, and you'll be able to pump up further and for longer times.

Your body will tell you if you're pushing too hard.

I've read some reports that there's pain only when it's pumped up and goes away when deflated. Is this accurate?

Cycling is essentially pumping it up as much as you can and leaving it like that for ~1 hour?

Yes, the pain is mainly when pumped up, and is relieved when you deflate.

I'm 2 years out now, and I only cycle once or twice a week. I still have some pain when pumped up hard for over an hour, but during sex I don't pump quite as hard, and I can go as long as she wants. 8-)
