My dr told me to pump up twice a day for at least 20 minutes at the begining. Does that mean from now on he just released me and I forgot to ask. What is everyone else doing each day?

Re: Shoulod you pump each Day?
While my surgeon is not one to elaborate and be as talkative as I would sometimes like, he merely implied that whether once or twice a day, the exercise was the main point. He gave no hint to time to hold, even when asked. Judging by the few times I have been where I could quiz surgeon for answers, I found him lacking in conversation but very to point, just no extra comments. As in the instance of if VED exercise would help me for surgery, he just felt it OK, but would not suggest it a great benefit. When asked of how long to leave inflated, it just did not seem an important point to him....just do it, if troubles try it in the bath so warm water would help (many of you also suggest this as good early on).
I just inflate, walk around a while, measuring, admiring, then tackle the somewhat troublesome task of deflating. This morning was a little cool and getting device in easy working position was a little more difficult for inflate and deflate. I bet a warm bath would have helped....but, I got'er done. If I have to do this for the next 3-4 months then it may become a bit of a nuisance, but whatever it takes. Heck, I been this far, need to see it through completely. billyl

After 3 months I don't know, I have an appointment in three months but they said if I wasn't having any problems to cancel appointment. I sure hope the burning and stinging will be gone in three months

I know you're joking, but this is a mechanical instrument with moving parts and is subject to wearing out. My first implant was used frequently and wore out after about four years. The second implant was used much less often and lasted fourteen years.

I'm 75 and got an AMS Ultrex in 1995. Had it replaced in 1999. Got a new AMS 700 LGX in 2013.
Re: Shoulod you pump each Day?
I was implanted 11/2/11 with AMS 700LGX, and I try to stay partially inflated ~ 30% every day and all night very close to fully inflated. There seems to be NO down-side of this practice for me on the 700

Re: Shoulod you pump each Day?
My Dr. told me to inflate twice a day for 15 minutes or so. So I do that but keep it inflated longer that the 15 minutes most of the time.
