Hi all,
Just wondered if it is safe to use red light therapy on the penis after having a penile implant surgery?
Red light therapy with penile implant
Re: Red light therapy with penile implant
I used it during my 4-6 weeks of recovery every day. It helps to keep the wound dry, helps keep bloodflow going and improves healing.
Will certainly use it again when i need a revision.

Is it safe to use it long term??
Or can the heat from it damage the implant?

Just a cheap one I bought off Amazon
I would get a more expensive one if it is safe to use pointed at my penis which has been implanted.
I am just worried that it could burn the cylinder plastic.
Does anybody know ?
Re: Red light therapy with penile implant
I am not an expert but I dont think the infrared could burn the implant through the skin.
It might be best to write an email to coloplast and/or ams and ask them. They would know the material composition of implants.

Re: Red light therapy with penile implant
I found some posts that infrared light should not be harmful to breast implants made from silicone and also the red light should not heat up the tissue to the level that it would damage the implant.
There might be some correlation to penile implants.

Re: Red light therapy with penile implant
Agreed… as far as acute damage it seems impossible that something that doesn’t cause pain to the flesh would destroy a medical implant. If anything, there could be degradation from the radiation over time, but I imagine it would take many many years for that to result in a leak or something.
soft glans since ever / some ED from youth now fairly serious ED after much use of constriction/clamping to achieve 100% fullness / sorting out TRT and delaying implant plans until all mental, chemical, and physiological possibilities are exhausted

Re: Red light therapy with penile implant
There is absolutely no danger to your tissues or to the implant material. If anything, the deep red light at around 660-670nm is extremely beneficial to wound healing and will definitely speed your recovery.
Unlike light at the other end of the spectrum - the blue and ultraviolet end, red and infra-red light is low energy and can be used without time limitation.
I know all this because I have done a lot of research on it.
