How long till pain goes away?

Postby mtg.cyoung » Tue May 13, 2025 10:02 pm

I realize pain is subjective for everyone but just curious to know for those with a malleable implant - how long does the pain last?

I am 3 weeks post op and feel like Weeks 1-2 the pain was centralized to my perineum/left testicle area. Now Week 3 I am feeling like the pain has moved on to my actual penis and glans area. The rods (Coloplast Genesis - infrapubic incision) feel like they are literally choking my dick/ sore/ tight.

Pain is especially worse at night and when trying to sleep. Although there are days where it persists throughout the day as well. Also, I am urinating frequently and feel like I'm never able to empty my bladder.

Just wondering for those with a malleable when you started to feel less pain/ issues. I'm feeling like I regret getting the implant but am keeping positive and trying to think that it's just my body trying to adjust to this. I also am a pretty active person, so not being able to go to the gym, do cardio, etc has been a mental adjustment for me.

Just trying to get a more realistic idea on how long the pain is going to last (especially for those who have the malleable). Thanks in advance for reading.

I heared a patient with rigi10 (mpp) on youtube saying exact pain migration you mentioned...so I think it's normal...

I expected pain for about 3 months until the surgical capsule matured around the rods. After 2 months, I noticed significant improvement though.

The following regimen worked for me:
- 15 minute ice packs during pain flares.
- 1000 mg Tylenol and 800 mg Ibuprofen every 6 hours. I tapered down to once a day whenever I had less pain.
- Topical Aspercreme on the shaft to numb the pain.

Everyone’s pain sensitivity is different, brother.
You’ll get through this.
Time is your best healer.
