Hi
Let's see, I started to have ED about twenty years ago in the mid 80's.
Since i am 67 today that would make me in the forties when it started.
What was the final blow was prostate cancer in 2005, I have not had an erection since then. Pills do not work and the VED was more a pain then it was worth. Then we tried shots, out of 10 or more one one worked, one sent me to ER for several hours.
Then I started thinking about getting an implant.
March 9 is the date that will be done in San Antonio. I am not looking forward to the drive back afterwards. I hope for some good pain killers for the trip.
I am not sure what implant the doctor is going to use, I lean more to the AMS, still the Coloplast Titan has some pluses.
A little more about me:
Retired from the telecom field after 30 years.
I work as a chashier today for the fun of it.
I am fairly open to most things in life and sex. Life is to short not to be.
The biggest thing that I miss today after my surgery is not able to have an ejaculation. I can not taste it again in my wife or see it on her. I know this is a man thing most of the time. Still it took major part of me. My wife said she does miss it also, still not to the dregee that I do, or go back to her days in the 70's.
So, to the ones that have gone down this path, I am thinking about taking three weeks off, still as a cashies I do have to lift many items over ten pounds, cat litter and dog food. I know everone is different. What is your guess when I can go back to work.
Second, I hear that there is pain the first few times you pump it up the fisrt time, has any one tried to use a cream as a local aspirin cream, not for intercrouse, but just to get it ready?
I hope to hear from anyone. I am the first one in my US TOO group to get an implant, might need to find a larger group.
Thanks for any help.

Good Afternoon Marvin
I have been on this group for a few weeks now. Paul is still building the implant board and doing a good job.
I have swapped messages with you on some of the other forums. I am also 67 and had my implant 10/23/08 at Vanderbilt.
As I understand it Medicare requires an over night stray in the hospital, 23 hours. I went home the next day. A 3 1/2 hour drive. They gave me something in the hospital for pain before I left and the only pain med I took was the first night home.
At Vanderbilt they have started keeping you partly inflated after surgery. This helps with soreness at activation. I found ibuprofen helps with the soreness the first time you use it for sex be sure to take a couple about 30 minutes before and after the first time the soreness gets lots better. Be sure to pump up your implant and hold it for 5 minutes twice a day. Do it at least three times before using it for sex, this helps lots. Do not take RX pain meds before sex they interfear with feelings in the glans (head).
As for lifting, at my 2 week check up I was limited to 15 pounds until my 6 week check up. Then I could lift what ever I felt comfortable with.
Good Luck, the one thing I can tell you for sure is after activation and some soreness the one thing that will happen is you will enjoy your new found sex life.
Enjoy

Marvin,
JackP has offered up some good suggestions. Similar to JackP I had my implant done at Vanderbilt on December 17th last year. It was activated a week ago and I have been pumping it up twice a day and holding for several minutes. How much it hurts when pumping depends on how hard you pump it. After a week I am now pumping it a lot more but it does hurt. The tubes have a seam where the pointed part at the head is connected to the straight part in the shaft. This is where my pain is at when I pump as this connection is harder then the rest of the implant. I have used it for sex once but the hurting does take a little out of the pleasure. One thing I notice after a week that it is now larger in the flaccid state then it was last week. My guess is the tubes probably stretch after several times and just do not return to the shorter state they were at. As JackP said for the six weeks post op your implant is left pumped up to some degree. In my case the PA told me last week when he activated the implant that I was left pumped up more then average.
As to activities I was doing all of my normal things two weeks after surgery. I was not picking up 40 or 50 pound bags but I did pick up some things that probably weighed 20 or 30 pounds.

The soreness will decress rapidly over the next 2 or 3 weeks. Keep pumping up the implant at least twice a day this keeps the implant expanding and helps with the soreness. The next time you want to have sex take a couple of ibuprofen an hour or so befere, it helped me. Do not take Rx pain pills they kill the feelings in the glans.
When you deflate the implant after holding down the button 4-5 seconds squeeze your penis from the glans to the base this helps the fluid return to the resevuour and makes inflating the next time easier. Also the more you use the pump the easier it gets.
Dr. Milam and Todd told me that the LGX will continue to expand up to 18 months. I am now about 16 months post op and have gained 1" back lost to peyronies.
Enjoy your new equipment.
