Propecia/finasteride

Postby Colby-jack__ » Mon Oct 13, 2025 10:07 am

I havent seen this discussed before:
I see a lot of guys on here that attribute some or all of their ED to finasteride.
It is a well known side effect.
Im wondering if now that I have my IPP, can I safely use finasteride to try to regrow some hair?
Id hate to go through all this effort, pain and expense only to lose my sex drive because I used Propecia after getting an implant.
Has anyone had a good or bad experience like this?

~8" before IPP but not "hard" enough for pvi.
Tried everything as things progressed:
Pills, pumps, prp, trt, gainswave, peptides, trimix, quadmix and a vibrating ring.

I think it varies from person to person.

I used to have an incredibly high sex drive (although never any sex lol) in my 20s.

I can't remember if it tapered off in my mid 20s, but I certainly know that when I started using finasteride at age 29 my sex drive was reduced. I used finasteride daily for 3 years and it took my sex drive from maybe 130% down to 70% which was a bit of a relief if I'm being honest. In my mid 20s my sex drive was like a crazy 200%. Finasteride also gave me viscous semen of low volume.

When I took dutasteride at age 32 it brought my sec drive down to 5% and seems to have mutated the tissue in the base of my penis. Penis turned to jelly around the base. I quit all that stuff when this happened in October 2023.

Fast forward and in the last 2 years I went drug free for a long time. Libido returned to maybe 70% but penis never recovered. Venous leak was confirmed this year. Being the weak person that I am I've gone back to finasteride albeit low dose this time, 3 days a week instead of daily. I feel like it's aggravated the damage to my penis, slightly, but I'd say my libido is still around 70% and I don't mind it being 70%. I'm 35 now and I would never want the 200% libido I had in my early 20s.

I'm now booking an implant and hoping I can take low dose finasteride 3 days a week when implanted, without damaging my implant.

Yes, me, see my profile and intro post.
a) I lost my libido due to finasteride but this came back gradually, especially since I am now able to have on demand erections with my implant. But the libido never came back as strong as it was before.
b) I lost my ability to have erections due to finasteride. First years pills worked until they didn’t work anymore. Ended up with total ED, more or less. Erection ability never came back. Never.

Why would you still take finasteride if it’s affecting the both areas mentioned above? Even when you have an implant, it still can affect your libido. That’s just shit and I’d never ever touch this shit again.
42y/o, VL due to Finasteride use 17 years ago, PDE5i lost effect over the years, nothing worked anymore.
Implanted 18 Aug 2023 (while I was 40y/o), Titan 20cm + 1cm RTE, Germany
