Are Vacuum Devices Helpful Before/After IPP Surgery?

Postby stewie77 » Sat Jan 03, 2026 8:48 pm

Have a surgery date for mid February 2026. Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on the effectiveness of vacuum/pump devices.

1. How long did you use the device prior to surgery?

2. What was your "workout" routine? Daily use? Duration of vacuum/pump cycles? How many cycles?

3. Did it help you maintain your length?

4. Did you use the device post surgery? If yes, why?

I appreciate any recommendations and guidance provided. Happy New Year :-)

1. How long did you use the device prior to surgery?

More than 2.5 years. Initially for penile rehab after RRP to reverse size loss from atrophy, then eventually also for sex as all other ED treatments had failed. But then more intensively 2-3 times a day for about 5 weeks pre implant surgery to get maximum stretch and hopefully allow the largest suitable implant cylinders to be fitted.

2. What was your "workout" routine? Daily use? Duration of vacuum/pump cycles? How many cycles?

2 to 3 times a day slowly inflating to the maximum safe pressure. Leave it inflated for 20 to 30 minutes then deflate.
Sometimes I would vary it by deflating after 10-15 minutes then reinflating for the last 10-15.

3. Did it help you maintain your length?

Yes, I believe so. After many months of cycling I am now back to my pre ED erect length and much larger flaccid than ever.
Note that initial post op was shorter, which is very common. But most seem to eventually restore size, or very close to it.

4. Did you use the device post surgery? If yes, why?

No. My surgeon isn't keen on it. But I may still give it a try, with care, at some point.

I appreciate any recommendations and guidance provided. Happy New Year :-)

Happy New Year, and best wishes for your surgery :).

Hey Stewie,
I've posted this before, but I think this 55 minute tele-seminar on VED's is about as thorough as you can get regarding vacuum devices.

Plus, you get to meet my surgeon who handled me!
(Dr. Jeffrey Loh Doyle.)

I learned a lot in this seminar.
I think you will too.

Good luck.

1. How long did you use the device prior to surgery?
Over 1 year. I posted this suggested many times to others. It is not like its a lot of work or hard. Actually went from standard size tube to the larger length tube because my glans was touching the tip. I never thought of myself as being anything but average length or so.

2. What was your "workout" routine? Daily use? Duration of vacuum/pump cycles? How many cycles?
I was not anal about this. I would guess about 5 times a week to full inflation.
My wife never liked it for sex.
3. Did it help you maintain your length?
Yes!

4. Did you use the device post surgery? If yes, why?
No. It would have been more uncomfortable for my wife.

Good luck and Happy New Year.

Thanks, Hikerman.
I too learnt a lot from this share.
1955. I have had ED for years. We were planning to go for a Rigi10 in October 2024. Life got in the way (heart attack & stent), so we are now going for injections as a fill-in. 9/2025 More life roadblocks with prostate Cancer:((
