WEEK 2 - Update:

We’re at the 2 week mark now since I had my MPP surgery. Here’s where I stand:

Pain: things have improved immensely. I’m not even taking Tylenol at this point. I’m still experiencing urethra discomfort in various positions, and I definitely have general soreness and glans sensitivity. Sitting for long stretches is definitely still uncomfortable, and wearing pants is not a great time either  but I anticipate all of these things improving with time and also once I can bend the implant + add supportive boxer briefs. Overall, I’m doing good.

Sleep: sleep has gotten much better. I’m still trying to just sleep on my back to help while I’m getting the last of the swelling out of my system. I still get woken up from pain a few times a night, but nothing like a week ago. Last night, I slept on my side for a few brief stretches. Fell asleep instantly and felt amazing. I think I’m going to start reintroducing sleeping on my side, since most of the swelling is gone at this point.

Appearance: penis looks much much better than last week! Swelling is greatly reduced. Looks good to me in the mirror.

I think the main thing I’m curious about is going to be comfort in day to day life, ESPECIALLY sitting down. Right now, sitting down, I can really feel discomfort in my urethra and some pressure in my groin. Hoping this feeling gets better with time.

Best everyone - Johnny

You're already showing great improvements. Remember to return to the earlier parts of your journal when you're later along in your recovery, so you can remind yourself of how far you've come. It's going to be very easy to forget how much progress you've made when the hardest stuff is behind you.

It sounds like you're right on track with things, overall. Wearing pants is going to be an adjustment for a little while. I highly recommend those Kinetic Pants from the Ministry of Supply, as well as any kind of stretchy jogger-style pants you can wear around the house. There are also various jeans brands you can check out that focus on extreme stretch, when you're more comfortable.

Sitting down is going to get a lot easier with time. But in the meantime, you can take pressure off your groin by folding up 2 large bath towels and putting one under each of your legs/butt so it takes some excess pressure off the sensitive area. For me, this was near-instant comfort.

These are GREAT tips Duke, thank you! I actually have a pair of velocity dress pants from Ministry of Supply laying around here SOMEWHERE. I typically wear jeans so will have to find them, but once I do I bet I’ll be leaning into them for awhile. They’re black too - go with everything.

Excellent journal, JohnnyBorg! Rest well and take it easy.

I had a dental appointment yesterday, and in that reclined position with the hygienist nearby, my Mr. MPP behaved like a good boy. No embarrassment at all. Choosing the right (not tight) fitting clothes is key.
ED with pills. Skipped injections. 2024 Genesis. Current - Sailing smoothly, though some sensitivity issues persist.

Thank you LastHope! Yes - this is going to be key. I’m actually weirdly looking forward to my “concealment journey” as dumb as that sounds  figuring out what underwear + trouser combos will work best, what tailoring and fits will work, etc. I’m big into wearing untucked work shirts and sort of a “rugged” flannel vibe especially in colder months, I imagine these will work perfectly paired with more forgiving trouser fits in the groin area.

Really appreciate it Elbow! I’m in good spirits today. My progress has been very incremental and slow the last few days, but I know in my gut that I’m definitely healing up in ways I might not immediately be noticing.

Day 16 post op:

I’m in great spirits today. Good things have been happening lately in my career and I’m 100% back to work (I work remote in tech consulting). I’m feeling really grateful today for everything I have and the fact that I’m fortunate enough to even be on this journey in the first place.

Pelvic floor guarding improvements: I just realized I haven’t spoken about this recently, and I think it’s because I didn’t even realize how slowly and stealthily it has improved! My pelvic floor guarding - which was VERY intense post-surgery - has lightened significantly. My brain and body now are in much better “agreement” that there’s nothing for me to be guarding against, and that I’m not in danger. I think this is a great sign that my body is adapting slowly to the 24/7 hard on  its seeing it as less of “whoa there’s two hard rods in my corpora - ACTIVATE DEFENSES” and now just seeing it as “well, these aren’t going anywhere. Better start getting used to em’”

Urethra discomfort: from things I’ve Googled, this seems to be a symptom for many men that is the last one to go. I still am hyper aware of my urethra, and changing positions / sitting to standing / etc I can often “feel” my urethra and it’s still a bit uncomfortable. I also still get some very mild burning sensations after peeing. However - I feel like today I might be noticing a VERY small marginal improvement here. Might be making it up - but I think it’s possible that a week from now, I might be seeing more obvious improvements. Fingers crossed!
