Pain fatigue

Postby Mtricher » Sun Mar 15, 2026 11:04 am

I’m almost 6 weeks post implant. I still struggle a lot with pain and it’s wearing on me. Today I tried to do my normal cycling and it just burned so badly that I had to deflate within a few minutes. i’m cautiously inflating at a lower pressure, but it still hurts.

It isn’t always like this, but sometimes it really sucks. I’ve gotten to the point where I kind of dread doing my cycling. Knowing that I have to go through this for a few more months is not appealing. Some days I can inflate all the way and handle it for a good 45 minutes. Other days it just hurts really badly and I can’t handle it. I feel like such a wuss for not being able to do it. I know it gets better, just kind of mentally fatigued.

Sex is doable, but I think any kind of tight pressure on the shafts causes pain. I’m only a little bit more than 4.5 inches around so maybe that’s it. Maybe because I’m narrower there’s just a lot more pressure and expansion?

Per most surgeons, 6 weeks is day one for cycling and there is no urgency for this. Despite what the naysayers say... connective tissue stretches endlessly and very gradually. Implants induce gains for years after placement.

In other words, there is no need to cycle to the point of excruciating pain, only the need that you do it consistently and to the point where you do feel some stretching. As long as you are consistent, you will not suffer contracture to the point where you lose size, and as long a you feel something consistently, you will regain or even gain size. Does that make sense? Think of it like yoga... a long-term therapeutic process where you are attempting to slowly stretch connective tissue (like a dancer improving their flexibility).

Thanks guys, just need to vent. It gets to me sometimes and I have a hard time not pushing myself. Dr. Taj had me cycling on day four. So I feel like I have to keep up. And he said I should do a two hours a day so I feel like I’m slacking if I don’t. I know I have a long road to go. Just looking forward to the day that the pleasure outweighs the pain.

I will be 8 weeks post-op next Thursday. My doctor did not allow me to cycle until the 6 week post-op appointment, so clearly I didn't experience the pain you have. As for me, there would have been no way to start cycling on day 4 :o .

Currently, I cycle twice a day most of the time. A couple of days I cycled three times. In any case, I was told by my doctor to cycle one or two times a day and try to hold it for 30 minutes, longer if want and don't experience too much discomfort. I did keep it up for 2 hours one day, and I paid the price with some residual discomfort. I was told to keep up the daily cycling for the next 6 months, but it was no big deal if I missed a day or two. In any case, it gets a bit better and better every day.

Best of luck to you going forward.

You’re gonna get there man. I know we aren’t in the exact same boat because I’ve got the MPP not IPP, but for what it’s worth, I still have some pain and soreness overall during day to day activities.

Some guys have longer healing timelines and that’s fine, you and I just might happen to be in that boat.

Also - and again, I know it’s not the same thing but figured I’d mention it - Dr Hakky wanted me to start bending my MPP a week after surgery to establish a hinge. There was NO CHANCE I was going to be able to bend it without enormous pain, and it wasn’t until Week 4 I actually started bending. The reason I share this is just to say I know the feeling that you’re “lagging behind” your surgeons instructions like you described with Dr Taj, but just remember that you’re doing the right thing listening to your body. And like others are saying, you’re still right on the money with your cycling! Some surgeons are a bit more aggressive with these things, and I think Taj and Hakky fall on that side of the spectrum.

Sorry to know you're having so much pain. I didn't heal very fast and had a lot of pain/soreness/burning after my implant.
Things to try: a kid's sock, elastic cut off, wear it like a condom. Helps keep your penis covered and protected. Next try some Aspercream. A small dab smeared on my shaft kept my pain down most of the day. Just make sure to wash it off before sex.
If doc gave you pain meds, take them before they are needed. Once you let the pain get excessive it's tough to get it settled down again.
