Are all Implants matched by serial numbers to patients?

Postby KaBoom » Mon Mar 23, 2026 12:57 pm

Does AMS, Coloplast Rigicon all keep track of specific serial numbers and patient ID's?

Both for tracking and recall needs, as well as preventing shady clinics in other parts of the world from charging full price and putting in a cheap knock off instead?

Crazy though I know, but these devices do cost a fortune compared to the amount of material involved , the markup must be huge, and enticing for shady people, especially in some lessor medical standard countries, and could be an easy way to take advantage of someone.
56, Mild ED started 20 years ago, Pills very effective for first 12 years. Then High Blood Pressure made ED much worse. Pills inconsistent now. Dont like needles. Planning IPP now, probably Rigicon Infla10 AX, to be done overseas.

I can only reply re AMS but I imagine the others would be the same. Yes, my surgical paperwork includes individual identifying numbers for each of the implant components. Those are registered to me as the patient with Boston Scientific by the BS/AMS rep who attended my procedure.
71, married, Sydney Oz. PC/nerve sparing RRP Mar 22 then profound ED. Tried pills, Trimix inj, focal shockwave, VED.

I'm pretty sure Coloplast also has a record of my implant.
