AMS 700 LGX pump stays dimpled/collapsed

Postby vonLuger » Tue Jun 02, 2026 6:25 am

Hey everyone from Bavaria :)

I underwent surgery for an AMS 700 LGX six weeks ago and started the cycling process about two weeks ago.
Initially, I was able to get about 8-9 pumps into the implant before the pump bulb became very hard. However, for the past two days, I have encountered a problem: after the 8th pump, the pump bulb remains completely collapsed (dimpled) and does not refill with fluid. Because it stays deflated, I am unable to wait a few minutes and try to add more pumps to maximize the inflation.
Is this a common issue during the early stages of cycling?
Should I be concerned about a malfunction or a blocked valve?
What steps can I take to resolve this?

I would press the release buton, squeeze the saline out and start over.
its not likely that its failed already. Its more likely that the parts are still stiff and just need cycling too.
enjoy your recovery, dont get in a big hurry.

vonLuger, cbinspok is right, your pump is still new and all the valves need to loosen up.

You also, might have touched the sides also on tbe pump which won’t allow it to inflate after a pump.

I have the same implant and possibly the same pump, I was trying to use my left hand to pump and hold with my right hand, it was awkward and after a few pumps the pump bulb went flat. I didn’t panic, I just hit the deflate button and everything went back to normal.

With a new pump, you should also hold the deflate button longer for the implant to help it deflate better. In the early days, I would keep holding it down while I squeezed my dick to get all the saline out of the tubes. It helped a lot, once I got past one year, I didn’t have to hold the deflate button down to empty the tubes.

vonLuger, it gets better!

I agree with the others: depress (reset) the valve. One of the things surgeons DO NOT tell you is how “sticky” or “buggy” the pump can be. The device is actually like a shoe—it’s stiff when new and needs to be broken in.

Expect other anxiety-inducing issues that will all resolve in time. Enjoy!

thank you for your kind words!

However, the problem remains exactly the same. During the first week, everything worked exactly as it should, i was able to pump until I couldn't pump anymore. The pump would become rock-hard, and there was significant back-pressure from the implant. For the past few days, however, the situation has been that I can pump exactly eight times, and then the pump simply stops refilling. I must have tried deflating and restarting at least 20 times—unfortunately, never with any success.
Is there any way to force the pump to refill?

It is one thing if you can no longer pump fluid into the implant—that would be self-explanatory, given that it is simply brand new.
However, the fact that no more fluid is flowing in or being drawn up sounds more like a kink in the supply line, or something similar?

Hi and welcome vonLuger,
Yes, the other boys are correct based on my own experience.
Quickly deflating then starting again usually fixes it, but you could consider trying the other suggestion below if that isn't working.

See this issue and solution/s for a similar problem I had with my own LGX:
Sudden collapse of MS pump bulb when cycling

I was provided with a link to the operating room manual.
https://www.bostonscientific.com/content/dam/elabeling/uro-ph/92127382-01C_AMS-700_ORM_en_s.pdf

If you read the manual via the link it has some answers, mainly Troubleshooting on page 30.
Note that this is actually for the surgeon's use during the implant procedure, but some of the solutions may be useful for patients.

Note: DO NOT squeeze the deflation button and the pump bulb at the same time.

Pump bulb dimpled or collapsed
• Squeeze the deflation button to refill the pump bulb
Move fingers away from the deflation button
Reactivate with a firm pump bulb squeeze
Inflate normally

• If this does not resolve the problem, squeeze the sides of the deflation block to refill the pump bulb
Then, squeeze the deflation button for 2-4 seconds to reset the lock-out mechanism prior to attempting inflation
Reactivate with a firm pump bulb squeeze
Inflate normally

• Do not squeeze the deflation button and the pump bulb at the same time

After 15 months, a lot of use and cycling I'm at the point of the bulb going almost flat when I pump to maximum inflation.
I still get extremely hard and feel a lot of pressure but I've probably reached the LGX expansion limits.
A quick press of the release button then further pumping gets it back on track and I can get it even harder.
My pump bulb was very stiff initially. After a lot of use it is now quite soft and easy to press, then firms up after many presses until it starts to collapse when fully maxed out.
