When to start cycling!

Postby AlmostFifty » Tue Jun 23, 2026 9:38 pm

Yesterday marked 2 weeks from my Titan Coloplast surgery. When did most of you start cycling? My balls are still pretty bruised and sore with some swelling so it is painful and difficult to deflate. Weak piss stream with lots of dribbling. I want to make
Sure I’m not missing something.

Thanks in advance!

AlmostFifty, You will get answers that are all over the place because every surgeon has a different protocol.
In my case my surgeon starts patients cycling at 6 weeks after leaving us 30-40% erect 24/7 for that period (penoscrotal incision).
Some start from as early as a few days post op. Most often that is for an infrapubic surgery but I'm also aware of penoscrotal approaches starting early.
Your doc and/or hospital should have given you instructions as part of the discharge process. Were you given any documentation to read?
It could be in that, otherwise I would contact his clinic as they usually want you to follow specific advice according to your surgeon's protocol.

Did your surgeon clear you to begin cycling? If you’re not sure, reach out to their office and get clarification first.

Some surgeons have their patients wait six weeks before cycling, while others start them as early as Day 3. The important thing is to follow your surgeon’s instructions.

Assuming you’re asking because you’ve already been cleared but are experiencing soreness, I can tell you that I was sore when I started cycling too. Heating pads and ice packs helped quite a bit.

Also, when you begin cycling, you don’t need to go all out from day one. If your first session is just two or three pumps followed by deflation, that’s a success. Do a little more the next day, and a little more the day after that. Build up gradually.

It does get better. And if you’re particularly sore one day, it’s okay to take a day or two off and then resume. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

I started cycling at one week, but my surgeon is Dr. Hakky and he’s notable for starting patients early. Did you have a surgical drain following your procedure? Surgeons that don’t use a drain seem to wait longer for cycling as there tends to be more swelling & fluid in the scrotum.
