AMS bulge NEW
2 years with AMS implant - last week with sex had injury during reverse cowgirl. No pain, but now week later with 0.5 inch bulge on the left base about 1/3 way up shaft. Bulge when inflated and goes away when deflated. Got a call out to the surgeon but anyone had this?
65 with ED for >10 years. Failed pills, not happy with injections. Implanted 6/24/24 (AMS CX 21 cm) with Dr Darshan Patel at UCSD.

It sounds suspicious for an aneurism of either the implant cylinder or possibly of the tunica vagnalis that encases the implant. Seeing your surgeon is the right call. An aneurism happens due to a weakening of the cylinder in one spot, which then sticks out when the cylinder is inflated. Same thing happens if there is an injury to the tunica in one spot, which could happen from the type of injury you describe. Then the cylinder pushes out through the opening in the damaged tunica. Either type of surgery will require surgery and implant replacement if the cylinder is damaged. The good news is that implant replacement is common and generally patients report more rapid healing and less discomfort than the first time around.

Generally, cylinder aneurysm can manifest as a bulge. You can read more about it here. I hope this gets addressed soon for you. (by your doctor)

Can anyone without an in-person exam boldly say you’ve got a cylinder aneurysm or some other mechanical problem? Not necessarily. No anonymous well wishing brothers here have personally examined you, and nobody here knows what your surgeon will find. If it were mine, I’d leave it alone until my surgeon had a chance to evaluate it. There’s no prize for proving an implant will survive “just one more time.” If there is a mechanical issue, continued use may only make the situation worse.
The absence of pain is encouraging, but it isn’t a defense. At the end of the day, cases are decided on facts, not forum opinions. Right now, the only opinion that carries any weight is the one from your surgeon who examines you. Everything else is speculation dressed up as confidence.
Please check with your doctor and trust his judgement.

That’s all true, and he should definitely consult his surgeon…but he *asked* for forum opinions. Should we just ignore him because we’re not surgeons who have examined him?
This forum is 70% laymans’ opinions concerning problems patients are having, it would be a very quiet place without them.
