I don’t think easy revision is the primary reason. Coloplast implants have fewer failure modes (tubing almost exclusively), so you can argue the overall design is more “bulletproof” and with the new Prime implants should become more so. AMS failures are more varied, with cylinders, pumps, and tubes all contributing. Plus the Tenacio pump recall left a bad taste, surgeons and patients justifiably hate revisions caused by device defects.

Failure rates between the brands are very similar, but I think you will see far fewer Coloplast failures in the Prime implants once they get some time under them.

I think Rigicon makes a great product, but there has to be more history with them before we’ll know the failure rates and problems with them. Hakky loves them and is petitioning the factory to produce implants larger than 24cm. It would be nice for those of us with larger implants to have more brand choice. According to Hakky the engineering and tooling for the Rigicon should allow manufacturing devices up to 32cm.
