Revision & Boston Scientific

Good Afternoon All:

So, I had my revision surgery last week. My implant, AGS 700 LGX w/Tenacio failed after only EIGHT MONTHS! I now have a new device and I seem to be healing a lot quicker this time around. So, a couple of things:

My surgeon showed me a photo of my old implant. The left cylinder looked like a big straw that you bend back and forth too much and create a hole in it! I've asked the doctor's office for a copy of the pic. If I get it, I'll share it on here. He told me that the Boston Scientific rep called the home office and was told that it was due to "vigorous cycling." Not a faulty device, or faulty placement, but MY fault for, while following their instructions and videos, I was too "vigorous."

Has anyone heard of this before? Or have you had a similar experience?

Next item: For those of you who've had revisions, how long was your recovery time? Were you able to start cycling, vigorously or otherwise sooner than the original six weeks? It seems as if the swelling and the pain is much less this time around.

I could use some insight from those with similar experiences. Especially the latter.

Sorry to hear the failure of the tenacio pump, I had a revision from a failed Titan to a AMS LGX just over 2 yrs ago, I can definitely agree with you the healing process from the revision was nothing like the original surgery, I had sex in 10 days gently. My LGX was implanted with the MS pump, so far no issues, but as far as the revision it was nothing like the original, very little pain and was pretty much healed up in less than a month.

Vincent, I haven’t had a revision yet, knock on wood! Pun intended lol

I have the LGX also, with the older MS pump and I followed my doctors protocol with cycling but I did do extra cycling because I had pain in my glans for a long time. I wouldn’t consider the cycling that I did abusing the cylinders. I would just pump to 70 percent in a hot tub of water and bend it up and down and side to side for 5 minutes and then pump to the max and see how long I could go without crying uncle from the pain.

Thankfully my LGX is still going strong just a few months shy of 5 years.

I’m sure you’ll heal up a lot faster, that’s what I’ve heard from FrankTalk brothers that had revisions on this forum.

As you can see from my signature I’ve had several revisions, the lastest being 6/23/26 and with each it’s been easier and less painful. I’d say don’t get carried away and follow your Dr. directions but you’ll definitely heal faster this time around. Watch the vigorous pumping out the gate because you’re still healing and you want things heal correctly for longevity. Good luck!!!

Just for my curiosity. I'm 2.5 yrs post op AMS700LGX, I hear all this about revisions, may I ask about the costs associated with the revisions? Is this all out of pocket, or any insurance coverage?
My Pri Ins and suppl covered my initial surgery and implant 100%.
What is covered for replacements?
