Two weeks out. What should I have in the house?

Postby runtsss » Sun Aug 02, 2026 11:27 am

Surgery is in about two weeks. Coloplast Titan, penoscrotal, with Dr. Eid. I’ve got Hibiclens already.

What else should I be buying now rather than sending someone out for post-op?
Interested in the obvious stuff (support underwear, ice, pillows, stool softener) but more interested in the things you didn’t think of until you needed them. What did you wish you’d had?

Also taking any advice on sleeping setup, what to wear the first week, and anything that made the first few days easier.

Bags of frozen peas for icing. Prepared meals. Charger cord for phone/laptop.
One thing I found helpful was satin boxers for bedtime. They don't bind up in the sheets.
As sore as I was by day 3 I was on my own, making meals, walking to the yard to smoke.

I had surgery with Dr Eid a bit over a year ago.

Infant socks worn over the glans of the penis. REALLY helped when I was tender/sensitive early on. Just buy a cheap 12 pack of them from Amazon. Take scissors and cut off any elastic band around the top (or decorative bow). Pull it over you penis like a condom. Cushions and keep things from rubbing.

If you don’t have a good ice maker in your freezer, bags of ice. Ice ice ice ice ice ice…. You don’t need fancy ice packs. Good ziplock storage/freezer bags are fine. You will be bundled up. A mound of gauze in a jockstrap when they send you home. Just lay a zip lock gallon storage baggie of ice on that.

I was told to wear my penis pointing up for the first few weeks. I found the thing that worked best was old fashioned jockstraps with a horizontal slit cut at the top of the pouch just under the waistband. My (babysock covered) penis remained painting up, poking out of the top of the pouch, so it wasn’t pinched or crushed by the jock waistband.

After those first few weeks I went back to the boxer briefs I wore before. I didn’t switch to anything special.

Stay off your feet as much as you can the first three days. Rest rest rest. So load up on your favorite movies and just kick back for a couple days. It is really important to let your body heal.

Check with your Dr but mine said do NOT use hibiclense after surgery. He said it is necessary for your body to do its own thing with keeping infection at bay. I didn’t understand this but did what I was told. I didn’t get an infection but it started internally where my original reservoir was located not on the incision. I was instructed to use warm shower water and mild body soap. Rinse good and pat dry.
60yo.ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works w diminishing results.
Implanted 5-22 Titan 20cm with 1cm RTE.
Revision 3-26 Titan 24cm with 1cm trimmed off.
Infection, salvage 5-26 Titan 24cm -1cm trimmed.
