Is it worth travelling to the US for surgery if you are in the UK?

Long time sufferer of pelvic floor issues and am considering an implant for 2027/8. ( Ill be 42 then).

I'm in the UK were we have appear to have ONE well renowned implanter(Ralph) and 1 who s highly rated but doesn't yet seem to be so high volume as to be listed on this site(Rees).

However there have been a few issues with Ralph lately so I am wondering if its better to travel to the US t see someone like EID or Perito who appears to be the leading surgeons in the world.

How long would I realistically need to be overseas and does this complicate after care? ( if they wanted to see me for a follow up). Do US surgeons take overseas patients? Would be cash not insurance. I want the best, money isnt an issue.

Go to dr hakky. Atlanta. He is a world renowned expert in ipp. He has patients from china, canada, uae, middle east. He operates in turkey regularly too. You may be able to catch him on a turkey trip and get it cheaper there than in the us. But if moneys not an issue, just fly into atlanta. Wonderful doctor, excellent bedside manners, genuine concern, and most importantly, impeccable surgical skills.

Hakkys schedule will require you there at least up to one week post op. You start cycling in that one week. The rest you can just do zoom. He does a lot of patients out of state and international.

You and me are close in age group (just got my ipp this year). Id pick him over eid. Not because eid is not skilled (hes like the godfather of ipp), but you and i will need revisions every 10 years. Hakkys like 46. Hell essentially age with us and can hopefully do our second and third ipp.

This is very helpful, thank you. Do you know how often he visits Turkey for operations? Also which hospital he operates at? My main concern would be what if there is infection. I am based in UK, having surgery in Turkey but the surgeon is in another continent. Any insights will be deeply appreciated.
