That's normal. It's healing. Keep up the ice routine, lay down and rest. The first week you're gonna be questioning your decision.

Per my instructions I’m supposed to pull down on the pump in my scrotum every time I urinate. Trying to figure out how to do this when there is still a lot of swelling. Should I wait until swelling goes down to pull on the pump?

That's a question for your doctor.
My thought is if it causes pain, don't do it.

That's very normal but I understand your concern. 5 days is very early in your recovery. You're at the "WTF have I done?" stage. It will get better eventually but massive swelling, bruising and discomfort are unfortunately the price most of us pay for a 100% reliable fully functioning dick. Trust me it will be worth it in the end, but it can sometimes be challenging in the first 6 to 8 weeks for many. Use ice as needed and stay ahead of the pain with appropriate meds rather than chase it when it hits. Hang in there brother, you can do this.
