Can I Play Basketball, Ride Bikes & Woman-On-Top

Postby gulangx999 » Sun Aug 16, 2026 8:36 am

It has been two years since I received my penile implant surgery. I’m writing to ask for real-life experiences from everyone here.

I’m wondering whether it is safe for me to play basketball and ride bicycles regularly now. I’ve heard some people warn against cycling, saying long-time compression from bike seats may cause abrasion, wear and tear to the internal implant structure over time.

Besides sports, I also want to know your practical experience with the woman-on-top sexual position. Are there any risks of damaging the implant or causing displacement during this position?

I would really appreciate your honest personal experiences rather than just theoretical advice. Thank you all.

The only one that I can comment on is riding a road bike. I don’t have the same implant as you, so I’m not sure about the tube ruggedness in Coloplast products.
I have the AMS 700 LGX.
I started riding my road bike again after about 4 weeks of healing and I did short easy rides. I use a Specialized SWorks Power Saddle which has an opening to take the pressure off of the perineum. I’ve been cycling on my road bike for 5 years now and thankfully I haven’t had any problems with my implant. I ride between 100 and 230 miles a week.
I do wear jockey bikini briefs under my cycling bibs to help keep everything in place.
I’m glad that I could continue riding with the third brother down there.

Good luck,

I am a National record holding powerlifter.
I work out 6 days a week and my workouts are incredibly intense. Regular 600+ lb Squats and Deadlifts.
Powerlifting aside.....I hike, kayak, run and have intimacy in all sorts of positions with my wife 3 to 4 times a week.
Ive had my current implant for 3 ans half years and it has functioned perfectly!
Couldn't be happier.
I would say that aside from combat sports and bull riding....you can live your best life in any way you want.

Thanks guys, really appreciate your sharing. just curious, do you feel any discomfort or foreign-body sensations during these activities?
I still have this strange foreign feeling even just sitting, like something is pressing and tugging inside. I can’t tell if it’s all in my head or physical.

I do some cycling, although I'm not in the same league as SWorks. It hasn't been a problem at all and I feel perfectly comfortable riding, definitely no foreign body sensations. I also use a cut out bike seat, which does take some pressure off the perineum. But I'm not sure that even a standard seat would be an issue. I also asked my surgeon about bike riding at 8 weeks post op and he said yes, absolutely fine to go ahead. I also do some strenuous hiking, climbing and descending steep and rough terrain, climbing over boulders, fallen trees, wading creeks etc. No problem there either.

I can't help much with your other question. We haven't done woman on top position, riding etc, for a long time as it's too awkward for my wife these days. But I would think most sex positions should be fine as long as both partners are physically capable. I would take it slowly initially with any untried position though.

I'm absolutely no psychologist, but If you are only getting foreign body sensations during activities where you are approaching them with concern already in your mind, I'm wondering if it could trick your brain into amplifying every minor sensation that happens. That doesn't explain it happening when sitting though. Have you always had these sensations or is it something that only started recently?

had this feeling ever since surgery, especially sitting on soft chairs. It also bothers me after walking a long time.
Would fully deflating it completely change this sensation? Do all of you normally let the implant deflate 100% all the time?

Wow that’s incredible!
Saw your first implant from 1997, broke in 2003 and stayed in till your 2023 surgery, right?
Was it still usable all those 20 years? How so?

When I first got back to cycling on my bike, everything felt tight down there and I did have some pain after being in the saddle for a while but after a couple months it went away. Also the big AMS MS pump would find its place when I would be on the saddle, it would usually push upward into the top part of my scrotum. It never hurt, I would just pull it back down into my lower ball sac after a ride. I don’t even notice anything now after 5 years, it seems like it goes back in place on its own after a ride.

Yes, I did have pain sitting in hard chairs for at least 2 to 3 months. It wasn’t a lot of pain, it was just uncomfortable. Soft chairs were much better.

Early in recovery sitting on anything was an uncomfortable challenge. I had to use a cushion under my ass to lift my ball sac up and take the pressure off it. Eventually all pain and discomfort faded and I don't notice my implant now unless using it. Most of the time I completely deflate so there is less of an obvious bulge in my crotch when out and about. But sometimes I like to leave a few pumps in for a "fuller" feeling. It can also make stowing my now much larger flaccid dick easier, as it wants to move around when 100% deflated. Fully deflated or with a few pumps left in isn't much difference in sensation for me. But I suggest experimenting with different low levels of inflation, including fully deflated, and see if it improves your comfort.
