Seeking Surgeon in Northern California

Postby NRGizer » Thu Aug 20, 2026 1:14 am

Hi guys, my first post here, really appreciate the information sharing on here.

Pills no longer do the job for me. For the time being, a penis constriction ring does work pretty well, but not sure how long that will continue. I beleive I am headed for an implant, maybe in a year or two.

One thing I have learned from this board is to only use a top shelf, high volume surgeon. There are maybe a half dozen names that come up all the time on this board. I will travel to one of them if I need to, but am hoping to find someone in Northern California.

The only NorCal surgeon I have seen recommended on here is Karpman in Mt. View. Reviews I have seen depict him as highly skilled, but arrogant, lacking in patient communication skills and inconsistent on follow up after surgery. So not necessarily ideal.

I would be interested in hearing any experiences of Karpamn, good or bad. Also wondering if there are any other top shelf implant specialists in NorCal.

Thanks in advance!

I think Dr. Karpman is the go to surgeon in Northern California - maybe can have folks that have been implanted by him chime in. Unfortunately, that makes it hard if you are trying to find a personality of a surgeon that fits your needs.

If possible, consider coming down to southern california for even consult either in San Diego or LA. Lots of high volume surgeons down here and only a short flight.

Thanks, jwitten, SoCal would be the logical next stop. Any recommendations down there? I notice you have had several revisions, what did you think of your surgeons?

I'm satisfied considering the additional challenges I presented. I doubt you would regret it if you do decide to use him. He is very direct. Support staff and office personnel do seem a little inexperienced though. It wouldn't hurt to see him if you are already up there.

Dr Karpman did mine in February 2025, and he also accompanied my hernia surgeon last October to ensure my IPP was protected. I can't say enough good things about him. I'm very satisfied from start to finish, including follow ups.

I would not describe him as arrogant, but confident. Very confident. It seems like he really knows his shit, and he knows it :D He's direct and doesn't bullshit or dance around your questions. If you prefer someone that sugarcoats things and is all nice and touchy-feely, he's not your guy. But he does a lot of these and has decades of experience.

I interviewed him and Clavell before choosing. Clavell said no way my insurance would cover it, Karpman said probably not but would try. He wound up getting it all covered. His staff is great, in my experience. I'm thankful I found a local Dr as good as him.

You're welcome to DM me with any questions if you want. Good luck to you!

I agree. Well said Woody. Definitely not arrogant.

Hello, I would strongly consider Dr. Kadee Thompson at Sutter Health in Sacramento. You can search her name on this site, as well as Google her. If you have specific questions you can private message me, and I will happily share my experience with her. She is absolutely amazing! She's also a high volume surgeon, and a Center of Excellence for Boston Scientific/AMS.

I was diagnosed with Peyronie’s Disease and I traveled to Utah to see Dr. Landon Trost, a nationally recognized expert on PD. He is a wonderful doctor and he successfully treated my PD. I asked him about a penile implant surgeon on the west coast (I live in Oregon) and he recommended Dr. Karpman. The negative reviews that I read about Karpman, refer to the wait times in his waiting room due to the fact that he is running behind schedule. That may indicate that he takes his time with each patient which is a good thing and I believe that to be completely irrelevant. Also, some people have been turned off by the fact that he appears to be arrogant. Again, that does not concern me in the least. The most important thing to me is that he is a good surgeon and I have yet to read anything negative about his skills as a surgeon. I am considering a penile implant, and I believe that I will go to him when I decide to move forward with the operation.

I don’t have personal experience, but if I had to move to California, these are the surgeons I’d strongly consider:
Northern – Edward Karpman
Southern – Faysal Yafi
