I have a question about recovery time after a first-time penile implant.
I’m scheduled for surgery on a Tuesday, and there’s a UFC event the following Saturday—so just 4 days later—that I’d really like to attend. Is that completely unrealistic?
For comparison, I’ve previously had a vasectomy, gallbladder removal, and finger surgery. Looking back, I think I probably could have attended an event 4 days after any of those, although I realize penile implant surgery is likely more invasive and the recovery may be very different.
I’d mostly be sitting during the event, but obviously there would be some walking, getting in and out of the venue, etc.
For those who have had an implant, what were you feeling like around day 4? Would attending something like this have been doable, or would you have wanted to stay home?
Thanks for any firsthand experiences or advice.
Edit: Thanks for the responses. Seems near unanimous as no way. Good point that my sexual future depends on healing properly.

I wouldn’t. You need to control your environment more than an event like that would allow. Too easy to slip on beer and tear a stitch, get sweaty and facilitate an infection, etc. This isn’t like other surgeries, your future sexual function is at stake.

4 days after surgery is too soon.
Even under perfect conditions it will be hard.
And risk of crowd, other people , lines each of them is a risk vector.

At day 14 I would have gone provided I didn’t need to stand the whole time or walk really far.
But day 4? no way.
On day 4 you want to rest, take it easy. Ice or heating pads (whichever your doc recommends on day 4).

I went to a play about 10 d after and did ok, which would not have worked for everyone. 4 d no go.

Depends on your body IMO. When I got my first implant that was in late June of 2011. I was back to work lifting more than 50 lbs, as I work with my hands, by early July. I had the surgery done on my days off. Keep in mind, I had the infra pubic approach by Dr. Edward Karpman. I have been told, and just using logic that the scrotal approach would hurt me like hell and would have to have a longer rest period.

I’m on day 6 of revision. No way would I even do it today. If I set fully clothed I get sweaty. Sweat and fresh incisions don’t go good together. It’s my 4th surgery this year and no way would I do that after 4 days on any of them.

Days 4-6 were my most painful days. It was when the raw heat from surgery turned into bruising pain. Like I’d been kicked in the groin ten times. I had to reschedule my first follow-up to two weeks post-op because I could be on my feet very long. I didn’t even have swelling. It just hurt.
