How long after surgery is infection no longer a concern?

Does anyone know how long one must wait after getting an implant when you're in the clear and dont have to worry about infection anymore?

Technically infection couldnhappen at any point. But I'd say at 3-6 months the chances go down dramatically. Essentially once all the tissues are healed and surgical capsules well established, infection becomes less of a risk.

Thanks Lasthope! I remembered that video and was about to start looking for it! This last reimplantation my incision has been slow to heal in one small spot. It’s where there’s a lot of scar tissue sewed together. Just last couple days it’s finally completely closed and is starting to dry out in that spot. Making me nervous for a little while now all is good!

Glad to hear it’s closing, Rider1400. Did your surgeon recommend any creams to apply to the incision?

Yes he prescribed Mupirocin which seemed to help although it’s still a slow process with the scar tissue already present in the incision. Started a pretty high dose of Floconozol to combat yeast infection that I feel has helped a lot. Being on antibiotics almost 20 weeks out of last 30 can cause this to be an issue. Just to note I’m off all antibiotics for a week today so feel like I don’t have any infection at this point just slow healing.
