Tomorrow is the big day. Surgery with Eid, trying not to let the nerves get to me. I have ehlers danlos syndrome and seem to be the first case ever documented to get an implant. This will certainly be interesting, happy to be here with you guys helping.

Hoping all goes well today! Welcome to the brotherhood. You’ve got some recovery ahead, and some getting used to it, but you are going to love it pretty soon.

To be honest I’m a bit jealous. To go through my twenties with the confidence you get from an implant? I woulda banged half the girls in NYC. Instead I got my confidence from cocaine, and when my dick didn’t work that’s what I blamed, too.

Update 1

I had surgery around noon today and was home by 5pm. Everything went smoothly apart from a delay of several hours. Before the procedure I spoke with the nurse, the anesthesiologist, and Dr. Eid. Because of my Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and related neck issues, the anesthesiologist decided against the spinal block and used general anesthesia instead. I was comfortable with that call and felt they took real care making it.

After saying goodbye to my loved one, I walked upstairs and straight onto the table. Nothing prepares you for how that room and table look and feel. It was a little eerie, but everyone kept good spirits. I remember one conversation, being strapped in, and then waking up in recovery. Maybe I had kept talking and don’t remember it, it seemed so sudden in retrospect.

For the first five minutes or so after waking up I was disoriented and too exhausted to really talk, but I came around quickly, had a snack and some water, and asked for my loved one to be brought in. We sat for about an hour while I got my bearings. I took one opioid for pain near the reservoir, then stood up and slowly walked out of the hospital.

The drive home took about two hours with the seat reclined as far back as it would go. The bumps were tolerable. At home I made it up the stairs and into bed, where I've been most of the night. My one issue so far is staying hydrated and getting the catheter to drain while lying flat. It drains fine when I stand.

Device: Coloplast Titan with the Genesis pump. Dr. Eid messaged me afterward to say the surgery went very well. He found scarring (fibrosis) on the right side of the shaft, which he said explained my ED. Cylinders are 22 cm on both sides, with a 1.5 cm rear tip extender on the right and 1.0 cm on the left. He measured the erection at 15-16 cm with an upward curvature and said he was very pleased with the cosmetic result.

The fibrosis on the right side surprised me. I've used trimix for about a year and a half, fewer than 100 doses. I wouldn't have been surprised by fibrosis on the left, where my penis had started to curve when soft and injections had become painful. My only guess is that I leaned on the right side more because the left hurt, even though I thought I was rotating consistently. Either way, I'm glad that part is out of my hands now.

Pain is manageable, and I'm being careful with my meds so I don't chase it. I'll keep you all posted.
