Maintaining consistent device specs and tolerances in high volume manufacturing is definitely more challenging than creating a few units for FDA approval. Maybe devices being produced are popping left and right. It is hopefully not an inherent design flaw cause it may take even longer to fix
55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant. 6.4 inches bone pressed length to tip, 5 inches girth base, 4.5 inches girth mid-shaft.

I really hope it’s a QA/QC issue and not a design problem with the new tubing or cylinders. The extra layer in the cylinders seems to me the most likely design issue, if the two layers aren’t well bonded and rub each other.

Coloplast has a good track record with respect to device recalls. Will they release over-the-air updates to fix the 1st gen bugs discovered in the real world?

Met with Dr Patel in San Diego (USCD0 last week and he confirmed that Coloplast hasn't even announced a date yet.
He said the plan was that Coloplast was going to release to a handful of doctors by the end of the year before Coloplast made it mainstream accessible, but at this point the first round will only be Dr Eid in NY in sometime 2027 (Eid is on the Coloplast advisory board). He said he does have some guys that want to wait, but he would recommend not waiting. If he gets access in 2nd Quarter in 2027 (He is high volume and Coloplast center of excellence, so he should be. high on the list I assume), UCSD wont offer as a standard option at least for a year to see how it fares. Since it is new, and hasn't been used in humans yet issues could pop up. Its happened with other manufacturers.
At this point, I am going to book my surgery. I don't think I can deal with injections for that much longer now that I am more educated.
