I'm sure everybody agrees by now that FT's difficulties with handling internet traffic rendered it almost unusable at times lately. It's a relatively new phenomena too. It wasn't much of a problem when I initially joined this forum about a year ago. I moved it here because there is a parallel thread about this happening in General Discussions.

I'm addressing all: FT itself, pre-ops, post-ops and implanters here, and the companies! I'm sure they're reading this!

You'd think that manufacturers of penile implants: Coloplast, Boston Scientific and Rigicon might cough up some funds to let FT admins upgrade their platform. I'm sure they must get a lot of business through incidental referrals.

I hope many chime in to this thread to always keep it on top. It would be nice if in a week or so, once it's populated, someone would bring attention to it to the FT admins if FT doesn't comment beforehand.

If there is someone with an in to any of the three companies mentioned it would be very constructive if you brought to their attention.

When my uro told me I needed an implant I said no way.
If it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't have considered getting an implant without chatting with the guys on here that did get one.

If it's; a question of funding, charge a membership fee for access to all but basic forums. Most of us would gladly pay. That would also keep the trolls out.

...and those on Medicaid too I think this would also insure that many of those considering implanting wouldn't bother to join. Most people from countries other than the US wouldn't bother too, and I personally find many of their stories riveting and extremely educational. For many who really needs it it wouldn't be worth it, especially with FB and Reddit out there.

This inability of handing internet traffic got to be fixed though. This is a relatively recent phenomena on franktalk. They should change host or something. I know many free internet sites that deal with things like that from time to time and they change things when users start to complain and everything start working like clockwork again.

It is interesting—and no less frustrating—that no admin has spoken up yet. By now, there have been so many complaints regarding the malfunctioning forum that any admin should have realized something is broken. The whole situation is very strange.

I was one of the folks who posted about this a few weeks back in the general forum space, and someone commented that the [I'm going to call it] framework is so old it can't keep up with all the new web codes and software updates. This is, after all, a platform built in the 2000s if not before that. I've been on several of the phpBB sites over the years, and none of them have ever evolved or been updated. I'm wondering when there'll be a system-wide update that just shuts this framework off entirely.

Also, I agree with some version of what ElbowRoom suggested. Maybe there'a a way to do a tiered membership: free= X access, donation = XX access, membership = XXX? And how many bots just hang out watching us all day, too?

Everybody wants something for free and for others to provide it.

If something has value to you, you'll be willing to pay at least a minimal cost for it. If not, then move on to the next thing. Remember:

* Good

* Fast

* Cheap (or Free)

You can only pick two of the above. I'd choose good and fast for this site.

As have others who love this site, I’ve also suggested making it a pay site. I’ve emailed the mods about this early on.
At first when I was having issues, I’d get messages back, but now nothing. I didn’t discover the site until after I got my implant. I would have done things differently had I known, and had been able to discuss with the guys here, and would have benefited greatly from the wealth of information, knowledge and experiences of the members. This is a tremendous resource, and a great service to men and their sexual partners. We cannot afford to let it fade away, what can we do to make sure that it continues to thrive and help MANKIND?

This is kind of the same argument as getting an implant: is a 8" non-working dick better than a 5" working dick?

No!

Is a free forum that doesn't work better than a user-funded forum that we can access?

No!

Or, someone figure out how to migrate the forum platform to a modern system that works for zero user dollars via corporate funding.
Archive all content from before, say, 2020 to free up server storage.
Or anything that speeds it up to what were used to a few months ago.
