Implanted on 2/17 with Dr. Eid
Re: Implanted on 2/17 with Dr. Eid
rlm1818, rest easy. The catheter isnt a big deal to take out. Im confused since some implant patients post op are partially inflated and some are not inflated at all like you. Anyone know why? Although its nice to see the partial erection I have, I could use the de-activation sooner than later lol. Shaft is sore but no pain. Im taking advil as well..nothing else needed.

Why don't you call Silvia directly and ask. If you have stitches removed at Dr Eid's office I understand she does it, and she seems very willing to answer questions.
The post-op instructions I had from Dr Eid, which I went over with Silvia, in one place say wear jock till stitches are removed, and in another place say first week. Silvia told me it was very important for the first week, and desirable for the slightly longer time till stitches removed. My own attitude is to try to optimize the results if I can, so if I can do it I plan on doing it until stitches removed.
As to inflation, dk. Dr Eid told me I was not inflated at all, but it sure looks and feels like at least partial. If I let it hang freely, it is nearly horizontal. Dr Eid told me, as do post- op instructions, that everything will stretch and hang more normally with time and the multiple daily warm baths dr Eid insists upon.

Also, catheter came out no problem early this am. Have only taken Advil once since midnight , and that was only for headache I have had on and off since the spinal, and which I blame the spinal for. Pain is truly minimal at this point. Maybe will increase with more activity.

Jerry,
At first the pump feels like a solid marble. Over time it will become more pliable. It does make pumping difficult when you are first starting out and when it slips away because it's so hard and bangs into one of the boys - ouch! Just trying to prepare you but trust me it will get easier to pump as time goes by.

Please look around the IMPLANT discussion board for my DOUBLE-HANDED INFLATION Instructions. When I first started inflating my pump, it was hard as a rock and nearly impossible to inflate. I learned this double-handed inflation method and it has made it much easier to inflate the implant now. Plus, it builds strong upper arms! LGX_Man

I will post my own story in more detail later in a separate tread. But, I do want to update an earlier comment. While my unrestricted flaccid hang was horizontal yesterday, or about 3 o'clock, today it is more at about 5 o'clock. What a difference a day makes! Like you Jerry, I keep it strapped vertical with the jockstrap except when using the toilet, or today when doing the first of the mandated multiple daily warm baths. BTW that warm bath felt great!

Hey rlm1818, hows your recovering going? I feel pretty good after a little over a week..no pain or discomfort any longer. The only issue is getting the pump situated when sleeping or sitting, it pinches a little bit if its pushed on..mine is way in the back. Hope all is well.

Hi Jerry --
Still working on a more detailed report. In brief, I'm very comfortable. Occasional Advil, but not regular. More of an occasional luxury than a necessity. Some discomfort when active, dissipates after lying down and/or warm bath. Just as Silvia and the post-op instructions said. My pump is also way back and somewhat high. But can find both the bulb and the release valve ok. No problems with it yet, but I'm trying hard to follow post-op instructions by not sitting on it in any way shape or form. So no pinching for me, at least so far. Walked 2.5 miles yesterday (day 5), drove car on some errands, went out to dinner with some friends.
I'm surprised by the flaccid size, bigger than I was expecting, and I was expecting a big change. Not complaining though. All in all, not even the slightest regret about any aspect of this. Still a ways to go. Still risk of infection, though no sign of it. Trying hard to contain my semi-euphoria about everything.
