Reason for surgery????

Postby quigleyt57 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 11:19 pm

I'm planning to take the leap and have the implant. I wondered if those who have gone through this can share how they dealt with the time off from work ... and what you've said was the reason for it? :?:
Many Thanks!!!

I had my surgery just two weeks ago and reported that I was having surgery to repair a hernia. It was accepted no questions asked. Recovery from the two surgeries is similar. Search past posts on this topic. Many brothers have used this excuse successfully.

Hi Mate
Hernia works a treat, ticks all the boxes and allows you to heal with all the right support from family and friends
Best wishes

I'm retired so it's not an issue there but the hernia works well for friends and family too.

I usually say I had surgery. People ask, "What kind?" I always say, "You don't want to know."

I told people it was a bladder issue, hence the urologist. I was concerned that someone would put two and two together like why I was going to a urologist for a hernia surgery. And my luck, i would find myself in a conversation with a guy who was a hernia specialist and ask 60 ?'s. And my company offers FMLA so I took off 3 weeks for recovery. Nice break. Good luck.

I am going through the recovery part right now. I had my surgery on 1/8/2015. I tell everybody that it is some clean up and quality of life issues from when I had prostate cancer almost 5 years ago. After that I don't say anything. I do get a lot of questioning looks. So far everybody has been polite enough not which specific surgery I had.
I think some of them have come to the conclusion that I am keeping quiet about some life threatening condition that was a result of the cancer.

I just let the imaginations run wild.
